Memorial Service for Ardys Jean McGurk, 96 of Sisseton, South Dakota will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, South Dakota with Rev. Joshua Knudsen officiating, Organist will be Michele Greseth and special music provided by Rev. Pat Schubert and Ardys’ great nieces and nephews. Eulogy will be by Bonnie Dybedahl. Urn Bearers will be Milton and Judy Rolstad. Inurnment will be in Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, South Dakota. There will be visitation one hour prior to the Memorial Service at the Church on Saturday. The Cahill Funeral Church is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ardys Jean Rolstad, the oldest of seven children was born on October 18, 1929, in Grant Township, Roberts County, South Dakota near Sisseton, SD.to Irene (Lindell) and Charles Rolstad. She was baptized and confirmed at Goodwill Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD. She attended grade school through the eighth grade at Grant Township and at Enterprise Township. At an early age, Ardys worked at the Stavig House as a housekeeper for the Stavig family. She also worked at Rick and Roy Café as a waitress, besides working at home. Ardys was united in marriage to Leo McGurk on November 26, 1948. They had two sons; Roger and Dale. They made their home in Sisseton where Ardys worked at Landsberger Creamery. They moved to Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota from 1957-1958, Sisseton from 1958-1963, Phoenix, Arizonia 1963-1964, Indian Springs, Nevada 1964-1965, Las Vegas, Nevada 1965-2015. In Las Vegas, she worked for a Laundromat and Dry cleaner for twenty years. She returned to Sisseton in 2015 and made her home at Edgewood Living Center, Sisseton, SD. until 2023 when she moved to Browns Valley Health Care Center, Browns Valley. MN until her passing on September 9, 2026. Where she received excellent care. Ardys was an avid cook, loved to shop and she was particular about herself and her home. She always made everyone feel welcomed.

Ardys is survived by two sisters, Verneice Thompson of Fargo, ND and Lorraine (Charles) Cleveland of Huron, South Dakota; two brothers, Bernard (Betty) Rolstad of Sisseton, South Dakota and Milton (Judy) Rolstad of Sisseton, South Dakota. Sister-in-law Connie McGurk of Grand forks, ND. two daughters-in-law, Wanda McGurk and Sue Lewis of Las Vegas, NV; one granddaughter Kimberly Klein of New Mexico; one great grandson Steven “Cody” Klein; great-great grandsons, Tyler, Lucus and Steven Klein; sixteen nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Ardys was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Irene (Lindell) Rolstad; her husband Leo McGurk; two sons Roger and Dale; grandchildren Danny and Pat; brother Harvey Rolstad and sister-in-law Sylvia Rolstad; sister Clarice Martenson; niece Brenda Martinez; and a host of cousins and in-laws.
