There will be a celebration of life party held at the New Effington Community Center on September 26, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. All of Wayne's friends and family are welcome to attend.

Wayne Eugene Ziebarth was born in Sisseton SD on March 18th 1955 to Lawrence Ziebarth and Dorothy (Wyman) Ziebarth. Wayne was one of seven children, and growing up they didn't have much money, but they had plenty of love to go around. Growing up he learned how to be a hard worker, and to be someone that could be relied on. Wayne attended Sisseton High School, graduating class of 1973.

Following his education Wayne joined the Marines where he served for a few years. After his time in the marines on a trip that was meant to last a few weeks, helping his brother Alvin brought him to South Carolina where he met Wilma Lynn Rogers, the pair were later married on March 28th of 1978 in Sumter, SC. They welcomed a daughter Jessica Ziebarth on August 26th 1980, and shortly after they returned to SD where they then welcomed their son, Jason Ziebarth on February 28th 1982. A few years after moving back to South Dakota, Wayne and Lynn split amicably, remaining good friends.

In 1992, Wayne met Patricia Chaney in Browns Valley MN. He described meeting her as "love at first sight" and the pair were married on his birthday, March 18th 1993. During their time together they purchased a house in New Effington, SD where they lived the remainder of their lives together. Together in this home they held many family gatherings for holidays, Halloween parties, pool parties, and any other excuse they could find to invite over their loved ones. They also welcomed grandchildren during this time, becoming the go to spot for the cousin sleepovers.

Everyone who knew Wayne knew him to be a hard worker. Before he left South Carolina the man he was working for awarding him 'The Fastest Shingle Nailer Sumter Ever Knew' award, which he was very proud of. When he was back in South Dakota he worked odd jobs and contracted work doing carpentry, before opening his own roofing business; Ziebarth Roofing. Him and his son Jason worked in the Sisseton and New Effington communities mostly, branching out to nearby towns to help anyone in need. Many years later, Wayne changed career paths leaving the roofing business to Jason. He spent his time after working at the Dakota Magic Casino in the poker room dealing cards. He always told everyone that job was more fun for him than it was work, as he got to do what he loved while seeing his friends and regulars. In the most recent years with Wayne he didn't work as much as he may have liked to, but still worked at Schultz food during their seasons, and did handy work for his neighbors.

When he was not working, Wayne enjoyed playing pinochle in Wilmot, fishing, camping,  building birdhouses, and helping his neighbors and friends.

Wayne passed away peacefully in his home on August 27th 2026. He left some final words of wisdom to his family before he passed, and that is to be kind to one another, and you will be rewarded tenfold. Wayne was a spiritual man, and loved his God and believed his word very truly. Psalms 139: 23-24. Search through me, O God, and know my heart. Examine me, and know my anxious thoughts. See whether there is in me any harmful way, And lead me in the way of eternity.

Wayne is preceded in death by both of his parents, Lawrence Ziebarth and Dorothy (Wyman) Ziebarth; three brothers Alvin Ziebarth, Roger Ziebarth, and Lawrence Ziebarth Jr,; his sister Tammy Tichinel (Ziebarth); his wife Patricia (Chaney) Ziebarth; and his ex wife Lynn (Rogers) Ziebarth.

Wayne is survived by both of his children, Jason (Deanna) Ziebarth and Jessica Breece; and two step children who he loved like his own, Mike (Christi) Chaney and Zabrina (David) Gray; His brothers Jeff (Joan) Ziebarth, Greg (Deborah) Ziebarth and brother in law Dave Tichinel. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Montana (Sidney) Williams, Weezy (Shauna) Ziebarth, Chloe Chaney, Easton Chaney, Darian Grohs, Robert Gray, and Ashlee Smith.

Wayne would want to give a special thank you to his close friends that were always there for him, Gary and Jeanne Magnuson, Gary Siegal, and Dennis Peterson.
