Funeral Service for Wakuta Wakan Westerman, (Holy Hunter), 36, of Watertown, SD will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Ronnie Brant and Stacey Brant officiating with Drum Group Red Storm. Pallbearers will be Shane DuMarce, Jesse Thompson, Vincent White Sr., Matthew Hisgun, Sidney Wanna and Freeman Hawk. Honorary Pallbearers will be Thunder Brothers, Jakobe DuMarce, Carmelo Papasodora, Paradise Brothers, Taymin Pacheco, Christian Pacheco, Royce Edward Graves IV, Sabastian Westerman and All other friends and relatives. Interment will be in the SWSO Traditional Burial Grounds, Sisseton, SD. All Night Wake Services will be held at the Sisseton Wahpeton Community Center starting at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 7, 2017 and Friday September 8, 20147. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD, is in charge of Funeral arrangement.
Kuta was born June 16, 1981 in Minneapolis to JoAnn Hisgun and Christ Westerman Jr. Kuta attended school in Minneapolis and Red Lake, MN where he attended Middle and High School. He played on the basketball team for the Red Lake Warriors. Kuta enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and most of all his children. He worked various jobs everywhere he lived. He was capable of many job trades. His main priority was to make sure his family was taken care of. He loved his entire family very much. Especially his nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and would try and visit as much as he could. He was quite the jokester and loved to laugh and make people laugh. He was a very easy going fella who got along with everyone. He was a good man, a great father, loving brother and uncle. He will be forever remembered and always missed.
Kuta was the loving father of one son, Sabastian Westerman and two beautiful daughters, Aaliyah May of Red Lake, MN and Amina Westerman of Watertown, SD; his mother JoAnn Hisgun, sisters Emily Graves, Shelley Hisgun and Gwen Westerman; brother, Kangi Duta Westerman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Christ Westerman Jr.; brother Conrad Hisgun; sister, Lisa Hisgun and grandmother, Melvina Labatte.
