Funeral Mass for Vivian Jane Holman, 89 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, South Dakota with Rev. Fr. Shaun Haggerty Celebrate. Organist will be Cindy Marohl and song leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Scott Holman, Jesse Holman, Kole Holman, Jason Holman, Kylan Meier, and Jake Haggerty. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to service time. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Vivian Jane Haggerty was born to John and Josephine (Vrchota) Haggerty on January 15, 1933 in Veblen, South Dakota, the oldest of nine children. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Catholic Church, Veblen, South Dakota. She attended DuMarce Country School #3 in Marshall County. At the age of 18, she moved to Tacoma, WA and worked for a year at Bell Telephone. Shortly after that, she moved to Mpls., MN and worked at Northwest Automatics for a couple of years. Upon returning to the Veblen area, Vivian met Neal Holman. They were married on March 17, 1956. To this union, 5 children were born, Mark, James, Wallace, Tamara and Joseph. In the early years they lived on the Holman farm in Marshall County, then moved down to Long Hollow and were caretakers of the school there. In 1969 they moved their home to northwest of Sisseton. Vivian worked various places in Sisseton, including the Tekakwitha Nursing Home, the Sisseton School District, Dakotah Quilts, and Landsberger Creamery and finally for 26 years at the Coteau des Prairies Hospital, retiring in 2005. Neal passed away in 1991 and Vivian moved into Sisseton. In 1998 she married Leland Benson. They lived at Lake Traverse for a short time and then built a new home in Sisseton. Leland passed away in 2008. Vivian continued to live at her home until 2015 when she decided to move to Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Center in Sisseton, in July 2020, Vivian moved to Tekakwitha Nursing Home during the Corona Virus outbreak. She contracted the virus and was able to recover. In July 2021, Vivian moved to the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Madison, South Dakota to be closer to her daughter. Tamara Lund and son, Joseph Holman. Vivian was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Sisseton, South Dakota. Vivian enjoyed her flowers, her pets and feeding the birds. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all their activities. Vivian was kind hearted and generous with all that she had. She was an excellent caregiver and whenever anyone needed her, she was there. She will be greatly missed. Vivian passed away on May 15, 2022 at Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home, Madison, South Dakota surrounded by loved ones.

Vivian is survived by her 5 children, Mark (Kathy) Holman, James (Kathy) Holman, both of Sisseton, South Dakota, Wallace (Sandy) Holman of Eden, South Dakota, Tamara (Tim) Lund and Joseph (Isabelle) Holman both of Madison, South Dakota; 7 grandchildren, Scott (Amy), Jesse (Kari), Kole (Kayla) Jason, Savannah (Jason) Beck, Ashley (Kylan) Meier, and Austin; 16 great grandchildren, Reed, Tanner, Hayden, Kolby, Kalli, Payton, Hunter, Brody, Brooklyn, Whitney, Isabel, Parker, Riley, Ryker, Reece, Regan, Riley, Rayna, Riggs, and Ridge. her sisters, Cheryl Bahr, Judy (Ron) Gettman, Brothers, Ike Haggerty, Greg (Nancy) Haggerty, Keith (Cindy) Haggerty, sister-in-laws Elaine Haggerty and Elizabeth (Liz) Waltrip.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brothers John and Terry Haggerty, her sister Dorothy Spethman and brother-in-law Bob Spethman. and sister-in-law Hilda Haggerty.
