Obituary

Funeral Service for Virgil White, 82, of Peever, SD will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Vern Donnell officiating.  Pallbearers will be Richard White, Darrin Diaz, Andrew Schreiber, Joey Schneider, Mason Schneider, and Micheal Schneider. Honorary Pall Bearers will be "All of Virgil's Friends and Family". Military Rites will be provided by the Kit Fox Society. Internment will be in the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Veterans Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Wake Service will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Virgil Vernon White was born on January 12, 1942 in Sisseton, SD to Virgil and Clarice (DuMarce) White.  He attended school and received his GED and later attended Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN. Virgil enlisted into the Navy on December 19, 1960 and was honorably discharged on March 8, 1963.  He would talk about his time in Hawaii. After the Navy he returned to the states and lived in Sioux City, IA, Crystal, MN, Minneapolis, MN, and traveled around. When his girls were young he loved to go sledding in the winter with them. In 1988 he returned to the Sisseton area.  He worked for Westinghouse, Thermal King as a foreman and Fuel Max.

He was a creative soul; he enjoyed cars especially Volkswagens and inventing things; Calligraphy, doing bead, art work, wood working and doing crafts. He enjoyed being outside, keeping active like riding his bicycle and watching western movies.  Virgil passed away on July 20, 2024 at Sisseton, SD.

Virgil is survived by his daughters; Tania (Tom) Benesh and Tamara (Darrin) Diaz; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; numerous siblings; nieces; nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Virgil V. White and Clarice (DuMarce) White; brother Ernest R. White; other siblings.
