Graveside Service will be held in Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11;00 A.M. at Veblen City Cemetery, Veblen, SD with Jerry Nelson officiating. Lunch will be served following Graveside Service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Veblen.

Violet Rose LaMoureaux, age 92, passed peacefully at Tekakwitha Living Center on November 16, 2020, with nieces, Mina and Gayle, at her side.

Violet was born on November 28, 1927, to Victor and Hazel Nordstrom in a farmhouse outside of Sisseton, South Dakota. She was the first of three children. She married her life partner, George LaMoureaux on June 12, 1946, in a double ceremony with her sister, Lorraine and Harold Tyler.

Violet lived many years of her life in Boron, CA, with George and their children, but most summers were spent in their home state of South Dakota, where they spent time with the remainder of their family. After George's passing in 2013, Violet returned to South Dakota to reside near her sister and brother.

Violet loved to laugh. She always said it was her best medicine. Anyone who ever spent time with her will remember her laugh and how she would start to tell a funny story and hardly be able to get through it because she was laughing so hard, and you were laughing with her. We will surely miss that sound, but it will never be forgotten.

Violet is pre-deceased by her parents, Victor and Hazel Nordstrom, husband, George, a son, Dennis, and sister, Lorraine and brother-in-law, Harold Tyler.

She is survived by her brother, William (Dona) Nordstrom, and her children, Vieata (Butch) Searcy, Darrell (Nancy) LaMoureaux, Sandra (Garry) Hicks, Victor (Sandra) LaMoureaux, David (Terry) LaMoureaux and Shari (Danny) Donaldson. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews she loved as her own.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Violet LaMoureaux to either the Tekakwitha Living Center, 6 Chestnut Street E, Sisseton, SD 57262, or the Boron Senior Citizens' Center, 27177 Twenty Mule Team Rd., Boron, CA 93516.

The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff and nursing team at the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton. You provided such great care and compassion to Violet and your efforts on her behalf are very much appreciated.

And finally, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mina (Tyler) Schmid, Gayle (Tyler) Hastings and the entire Tyler, Nordstrom and LaMoureaux families for their love and care of our mother during her time in South Dakota. You all were such a special part of her life. We could not have made it through these last few years without you and we are forever grateful to each of you.
