Funeral Mass for Victor F. Block Jr., 68 of Sisseton, will be held on Friday November 27, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville, SD with Celebrant Rev. Fr. Daniel Smith. Urnbearers will be Wade and Todd Anderson. Honorary Urnbearers will be All of Vic's family and friends. Military Rites will be provided by Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50, Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3342 and Grenville American Legion Post #267. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. with a time of sharing of Vic's life at 5:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton, SD. Inurnment will be at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Grenville, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Victor Felix Block, Jr. was born on May 14, 1947 in Webster, SD to Clara (Sichmeller) Block and Victor F Block. He attended grade school at St Joseph's Catholic school in Grenville and two and a half years of high school at Roslyn, SD, later earning his GED. Vic served as a mechanic in the Army from 1966 to 1968 and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. Vic was united in marriage to Carol Anderson in 1970 in Pierpont, SD. They had a son named Wade. They lived in Lakeville, MN then in Webster, SD. While in Webster, he worked for Knight Construction. Vic was united in marriage to Betty Treffry on August 26, 1977 in Princeton, MN. They had a son, Justin and a daughter, Kristin. Vic owned Vic's Repair & Transmission in Sisseton, SD and worked as an auto mechanic for 21 years. After a vehicle accident in 1998, it became difficult to continue this type of work so he tried some farming and he also worked for Art Argo Jr. and recently with Doug Langager Jr. Vic enjoyed spending time at the lake, ice fishing, watching NASCAR, classic cars, and telling stories.
Vic is survived by his ex wives Carol and Betty and his three children Wade Anderson of Canton, SD, Justin Block and wife, Donna of Fargo, ND, Kristin Block of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren; brother Jerry Block, Sr. and wife, Marie of Cosmos, MN; sister Clarice and husband, Roger George of Sisseton, SD, sister Donna and husband, George Etl of Mansfield, SD, sister Bonnie Olson of Ft. Collins, CO, and his dog Jack.
Vic was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers Bernie and Elvis.
