THE WAKE SERVICE FOR TONIGHT, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2025, IS CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER.

Funeral service for Vernon Dale Rouillard Sr., "Rocky", 69, of Waubay, SD will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Enemy Swim Community Center, Waubay, SD at 12:30 P.M. with a meal starting at 11:00A.M. There will be a Wake service on Thursday, December 18, 2025 and an All-Night Wake service on Friday, December 19, 2025, starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Enemy Swim Community Center, Waubay, SD. Officiating the services will be Fr. Charles Chan, Fr. Conrad Ciesel, Fr. George Parmeter, Deacon Bitsey Ciesel, Deacon Mark Marion and the Sisseton Mission Lay Readers. Pallbearers will be Austin Iron Star, Tate Never Misses A Shot, Dontevey Rouillard, Randy Hopkins, Desi Campbell, Alijah Renville, John Sargeant, Ohitika Archambault, Justin Kongi, Daniel Campbell III, Ives Eagle Jr., and Itancan Christenson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug Rencountre Jr., Smokey and Robin Bowen, Merle RedBear, Matt Campbell, Emery Flute, Richard Redwing, Darwin James, Stan Lorenz, Danny Johnson Sr., Marcelle Hopkins, Destiny Campbell, Misty Campbell, Evelyn Eagle, Roger Campbell, Brotherhood of St. Andrew, His Godchildren, ElRoy LaBeau, and the St. James Congregation. Interment will be at the St. James Episcopal Cemetery in Waubay, SD. Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Vernon Dale Rouillard Sr. was born on July 22, 1956, to Lincoln Rouillard and Angela (Campbell) Lee in Sisseton, SD. He graduated from the Waubay Class of 1974. Vernon worked in the construction field as well as the casino. He is also a member of the St. James Episcopal Church, he served as a lay reader and a Senior Warden. Vernon enjoyed playing cards, watching TV shows (his favorite being Family Feud), fishing, wrangling snakes, gambling, hunting with the uncles, playing pool, and bringing brats to the cookouts. He liked to watch the Jacksonville Jaguars, Golden State Warriors, and the Chicago White Sox. Vernon loved being the caretaker of the church, keeping in touch with his family, and spending time with his grandchildren, making jokes and always humming a tune. Vernon passed away on December 15, 2025, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Vernon is survived by his children Christina, Tamara, Vern Jr (Tami), Chris, Angel (Alex), and April (Randy); children's mother Donna Mae Christenson-Rouillard; brothers Raymond Rouillard, Richard Lee, Donald Loren Lee, and step-brother Merle Redbear; sisters Sonia Rouillard, Kathy Hodges, Joni Peyton, Donnette Red Bear and Josette Lee; 17 grandchildren; 5 greatgrandchildren; special nieces Allison and Janel; special nephew Austin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents Angela Campbell Lee and Lincoln Rouillard; stepdad Alvin Lee; brother Jody Lee; stepbrothers Elvis Ortley and Wesley Ortley; and sister Janell Lee; maternal grandparents Alice (Robertson) Campbell and Adelord Mathias Campbell; paternal grandparents Wilfred Walter Rouillard and Virginia Bernard;  and many other family.
