Funeral Service for Vernie Moses Driver Jr., Sύnkto Keca Sapa Iś nana un "Lone Black Wolf", 52, of Agency Village, SD will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD at 1:00 P.M. There will be a Wake service on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD starting at 7:00P.M. Interment will be at the Sisseton Wahpeton Traditional Burial Grounds, Sisseton, SD. Officiating the service will be Arnold Mato Williams. Drum Group will be Mato Ho Tanka. Pallbearers will be Clay Crawford, Edwin DuMarce, Bryan DuMarce Sr., Bryan DuMarce Jr., Josh Flute, Sonny Chanku, Robert Keoke Sr., and Joey Adams. Honorary Pallbearers will be All of Vernie's Friends and Relatives. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Vernie Moses Driver Jr. was born to Helen Keeble and Vernie M. Driver Sr. on July 17, 1972 at Sisseton, SD. Vernie and his sister Vanessa were placed into foster care when they were young. In the early 1980's, Linda (Driver) Crawford, (Vernie and Vanessa's first cousin) worked for the Sisseton Wahpeton Child Protection Program. Linda located Vernie and Vanessa in a foster home in West Virginia. Linda and her husband Dale brought them home to live with them. Vernie's dad, the late Vernie Moses Driver Sr. and Caroline Driver (Linda (Driver) Crawford's mom were brothers and sisters. Vernie attended Peever Elementary, Westside Elementary, and Wahpeton Indian School and graduated with his GED. Vernie met Paula Bagola at Job Corp in 1990 at Box Elder and his daughter, Missy was born in 1992.He was a talented artist. He loved to volunteer, fire fight, and help people. Vernie passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Tekakwitha Nursing Home in Sisseton, South Dakota.

Vernie is survived by his special friend Wanda Shepherd, one daughter Missy Roden; two grandchildren Michael Roden and Khleesi Turner; Many siblings Brandon Driver, Jeannie (Driver) Bosch, John Driver, Vernie Allen Driver, Brittania, Destini, Raine and Meadow Driver, Darren Crawford, Terri (Crawford) DuMarce, Jackie Crawford, Mindy Crawford; aunt Harriert Keeble and uncle Jonas Keeble, and many other friends and relatives.

Vernie is preceded in death by his parents Vernie Moses Driver Sr. and Helen Keeble; Linda (Driver) Crawford, and Edwin (Dale) Crawford; sisters Vanessa Driver, Crystal Driver, and Pricilla Driver; paternal grandparents Moses and Lena (Max) Driver; and maternal grandparents Stella (Sherman) Keeble and Jonas Keeble Sr.
