Funeral Mass for V. June Renville, Sina Ka-ga Win (Makes Blankets Women), 84, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, November 24,2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Tony Dummer OMI Celebrant. Organist will be Billy Kohl with special music by the Eastman Boys. Pallbearers will be Russell Adams, Christopher Adams, Patrick Adams, David Garcia, John Adams, Edward Tipton, Jason Adams, and Danny White. Honorary Pallbearers are Auntie Alma Renville, Florestine White, Carole Adams, Doris Burshiem, Ramona Renville, Mavis Quinn, Ramona Richter, June Adams, Teresa Peters, Lillian Owen, Connie DeMarrias, and Lesley LaFontaine. Interment will be in the St. Matthews Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, SD. There will be visitation on Thursday, November 22, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at St. Catherine's Hall with a Wake Service Friday, November 23, 2012 starting at 7:00 PM.
June was born on June 26, 1928 in Veblen, SD to Virginia DeMarrias. June attended various schools in her young life, beginning about age five to Pipestone Boarding School, and then to Stephan boarding school, she returned home and finished the eighth grade at Tekakwitha Orphanage. She finished her last four years at Flandreau Indian School and graduated in 1946. Nursing was her ambition. She married Magnus Renville in 1952 and they lived in Sisseton and St. Paul, MN. She worked at Anchor Hospital and several Nursing Homes in the medical field. She attended St. Paul Vo-tech where she received her nursing certificate in 1972. June returned to Sisseton in 1977 where she worked at IHS until she retired in 1997. June liked to sew quilts, cook, make pies and she liked Bingo. She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church. She worked at AAIA in the native language program and she worked at the drop in center cooking meals for the homeless.
June is survived by children Thomas (Karen) DeMarrias of St. Paul, MN, Karen DeMarrias and (Ronald) of Osceola, WI, Terrance Renville of Buffalo Lake, SD, Janel ManyLightnings of Buffalo Lake, SD and Valerie Renville of Sisseton, SD. Brothers Russell (Kathy) Adams of St. Paul, MN, Richard (Audrey) Adams of Veblen, SD, Dale Adams of Sisseton, SD, Clayton (June) Adams of Sisseton, SD, Patrick (Sally) Adams of New Effington, SD, John Adams of Wagner, OK, and Sister Sandra Adams-Owen of St. Paul, MN. June leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren and special nephew LaVern DeMarrias Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD.
June was preceded in death by her husband Magnus Renville, mother Virginia (DeMarrias) Adams, a brother LaVern DeMarrias, granddaughters Amber Lea DeMarrias, and Amaya Jones-Ross, great-grandsons Omar and Ledante Greeley, and sister-in law Mary Kay Adams.
