Funeral Service for Tyson James Hippen, 35, of Sisseton, South Dakota will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Suzanne Benidt officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth and Soloist John Rasmussen. Pallbearers will be Dean Lehrke, Eric Hill, Dean Stickland, Dustin Kirk, Weston Quinn and Steven George. Honorary Pallbearers All Present and Past Employees of Hippens Steakhouse and Lakeland Lanes and Lounge. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, South Dakota. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Cahill Funeral Chapel, followed by a Native American Wake service at 7:00 P.M. at St. Catherine's Hall, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Wednesday.
Tyson was born on November 25, 1975 at Sisseton, South Dakota to Stanley and Yvonne (TePoel) Hippen. Tyson graduated from Sisseton High School in 1994. In high school Tyson played freshman basketball, played the tuba in band, and was involved in musicals and plays. As a young man he took piano lessons. He attended North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton in food service. After school he returned to Sisseton and joined the family business, Hippen Steakhouse, Lounge and Bowling Alley. His life was managing the daily operations of the business, and enjoy fixing of the bowling machines, and loved cooking and entertaining. He loved to watch the food channel. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He golfed and bowled. Tyson passed away on January 15, 2011 at Sisseton, South Dakota, and the result of a fire at the family business. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Stavig House.
Tyson is survived by his parents, Stanley and Yvonne and one brother, Collin all of Sisseton, South Dakota. His paternal grandmother, Teresa Hippen of Sisseton, SD and his maternal grandmother Arline TePoel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Tyson was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers.
