Funeral Service for Twyla Marie Mousseau, 65, of Browns Valley, MN will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Pastor Jerome Renville officiating. Drum Group will be Long Elk. Pallbearers are Jarrod Mousseau, Jeremy Mousseau, Zachary Ortley, Thomas Fayant, Nick Schaller, Garrett White, Baby Jay Mousseau and Lupe Polina. Honorary Pallbearers will be All Twyla's friends and family. There will be an Allnight Wake Service on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Sisseton Wahpeton Traditional Burial Grounds, Sisseton, SD on April 13, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Twyla Marie Mousseau was born in Pine Ridge, SD on November 9, 1956 to LaVonne Hawkins and Warfield Richards. Twyla was a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. She spent her childhood years in Martin, SD with her family. She later moved to California and graduated from Rio Linda High School near Sacramento, CA. She later returned to South Dakota and married Silas G. Ortley in 1980. Three children were born from their marriage. The family moved to California in 1981 where they remained for fifteen years. After their divorce, Twyla returned to South Dakota and worked for several businesses in the Sisseton Area. Twyla was a member of the Eagle Wing Baptist Church and enjoyed going to services and Bible Study. She loved visiting with family and friends. The Pittsburg Stealers were her favorite Football Team. She had a dog named "Baby Puppy" which was always by her side. Twyla will be greatly missed by all. Twyla passed to the spirit world on February 16, 2022 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S D after a prolonged illness.

Twyla is survived by former husband Silas G. Ortley. sons Jarrod Mousseau, Jeremy Mousseau, Zachary Ortley and daughter Danielle Ortley all of Browns Valley, MN; her brother Van Hawkins and sisters Linda Baker of California, Myrna Wilder of Arizona, Beverly Kirk of South Dakota and Marty Hawkins of Montana and daughter-in-law Amber Carvel; five grandsons, Baby J, Silas, Leland and James Mousseau, and Jeremy Ortley, Jr.; four granddaughters, Lillian Mousseau, Cali Ortley Mousseau, Elexis and Nina Sanchez; 2 great grandchildren, Aria Bursheim and Ryder Lawrence.

Twyla was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Desirae Ortley; brother Robert Mousseaux and sister Diane Mousseau, a step-son Jeremy Ortley
