Memorial services for Troy Dell Simonson, 51, will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Familylife Assembly of God church in Sisseton, SD with Pastor Vern Donnell, Pastor Bob Beasley, and Pastor Gordon Williams officiating. Special music will be provided by Gloria Slaamot, June Evenson, Wade Johnson, and Krystal Williams. Inurnment will be at the Bethel One Road Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Troy Simonson, age 51, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the home of his parents.
Troy was born on May 26, 1962 in Sisseton, SD where he lived until his father joined the Navy. He attended school in Gulfport, MS; Adak, AL; Oak Harbor, WA; and graduated from high school at Oxnard, CA.
Troy loved to sing. In 1977 he was chosen to go on a tour to Sweden, performing with the Northwest District Assembly of God Choir. He sang in two quartets while attending Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND in 1983. Many opportunities were given to him throughout the the years to sing his Gospel Songs.
Troy attended Devry Institute of Technology in Phoenix, AZ in 1986 through 1987. He studied electronics, math, and science.
Troy was employed with Home Depot for 16 years in Poulsbo, WA.
He had to resign due to health issues.
He is survived by his parents, Burdell and Joyce Simonson of Sisseton, SD; one brother Timothy (Dawn) Simonson of Poulsbo, WA; two sisters, Kim (Gordon) Williams of Lincoln, ND; and Krystal Williams of Sisseton, SD; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jewett and Leta Johnson-Evenson; and Ole and Beatrice Simonson.
