Tonya Rose Jackson, Tatewiyan Kpakpawin "Swirling Wind Woman", 47 of Watertown, SD passed away on April 10, 2026, in Sioux Falls, SD with family by her side. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD at 2:00 P.M. with meal starting at 12:30. Pastor Jerome Renville officiating and Pianist will be Billy Kohl. Drum Group will be Grey Fox Family & Relative's Drum Group. Pallbearers will be Philip Jackson, Philmore Jackson, Alvan Jackson, Leo Gunner, Thomas Flute Sr., Lincoln Wanna, and Londel Seaboy. Honorary Pall bears will be Brandi Smith, Christy Amos, Heidi Johnson, Lucy Runnels, Branda Jackson, Kylee Neilan, Betty Neilan, Chelsey Neilan, Dustin Neilan, Dirk Neilan, David Flute, Sage Flute, Carol Jordan, Melissa Stonehouse, Sophronia Crawford, Tyson Flute, Devin White, Philip Kickingbear, Jackie Vosberg, Classmates of Wilmot Class of 1998, and Many other Friends and Relatives. Interment will be in the Eagle Wings Baptist Cemetery, Peever, South Dakota. There will be a Wake Services on Monday, April 13, 2026, and All-night Tuesday, April 14, 2026, starting at 7:00 P.M. at the SWTCC Agency Village, SD. The Cahill funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Tonya was born on January 31, 1979, at Watertown, South Dakota to Philip "Buzzy" Jackson and Alberta "Beba" (Bigtalk) Jackson. She attended high school at Tiospa Zina Tribal School and graduated in 1999. She was raised in Peever, SD and also lived in Sisseton, SD and later Watertown, SD. She worked at the Dakota Connection Casino and Dakota Magic Casino. She enjoyed watching TV shows and movies. She was a Green Bay Packers and Nebraska Cornhuskers fan.
Tonya is survived by her two children, Philip and Anthony Jackson of Watertown, SD; one brother Joseph Jackson of Summit, SD; God mother Carol Jordan of Sisseton, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents Philip and Alberta Jackson.
