Funeral Service for Timothy Gary St. John, 60 of Minneapolis, MN formerly of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village with the Rev. Fr. Tony Dummer, Celebrant. The Drum Group will be Dakota Nation. Pallbearers will be Randy White, Todd St. John, Edward St. John, Andrew St. John, Andrew Jeffers, Tim Jackson and Julio Casarez. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Philbrick Family, Connie DeMarrias Family, and all of Timothy's Painting Co-Workers, Relatives, and Friends. Interment will be in the St. Matthew's Cemetery, Veblen, SD. Wake Service will be held at the Tribal Community Center at 7:00 PM on Monday and Tuesday will be an all night wake. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Timothy was born on April 3, 1954 in Sisseton, SD to Edward Moses and Celesta (LaBlanc) St. John. He attended Tekakwaitha and Flandreau Indian School. Following high school he moved to Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis Technical College and received his degree in automotive mechanics and body work. Timothy worked as a painter. He loved basketball, leather work, beading, reading, watching sports on TV and Pow Wows. He had a great sense of humor. Timothy passed away at Hennepin County Medical Center on May 16, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.
Timothy is survived by his children, Timberly Blacksmith, Tracy Jackson, Timothy Jackson April Bellinger, Jeff Jackson, and Candace Jackson; nine brothers, Ted St. John of Browns Valley, MN, Kenneth St. John of Minneapolis, MN, Robert St. John of Moorhead, MN, Roger St. John of St. Paul, MN, Phillip St. John of Bismarck, ND, Edward and Rodney St. John of Sisseton, SD, Jeff St. John and Jack St. John of New York; one sister, Louise LaBlanc of Minneapolis, MN.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marlon Smith and Sanford St. John Jeffers; three sisters, Jennifer St. John, Patricia St. John and Yvonne St. John.
