A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD.  If you experienced Tim in your life, please come and join the family for an afternoon of stories, humor and memories.

Timothy Bruce Olson, 58, of Watertown, formerly of Sisseton, SD died Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his home in Watertown. Tim was born on October 5, 1964, in Sisseton, South Dakota to Warren and Eloise (Vig) Olson. He attended regular and special needs classes in Sisseton from Head Start to high school. After finishing school he moved to Watertown where he lived happily in a group home until his death. Tim known as Timmy started work as a child in his father's Red Owl Store. He loved collecting and sorting pop bottles, straightening out shelves, and taking breaks. His lifetime devotion to Coca-Cola started at this young age. Once he moved to Watertown, he worked for ATCO industries sorting nuts and bolts, sweeping floors, mowing lawns, and taking breaks. He did some work as a greeter at Watertown grocery stores. His friendly smile and outgoing demeanor made him a natural for this work. Tim loved talking to people, shaking hands, and asking, "What you name?" He eventually retired from this work so he could take more breaks. When he lived in Sisseton, Tim was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he was baptized, attended Sunday school, and was confirmed. People who knew him enjoyed his heartfelt rendition of "Go, Tell It on the Mountain," which was his favorite Christmas carol. He had many hobbies and interests, but golf was perhaps his favorite. Tim golfed at Valley View, used the driving range, drove the golf cart, and sat with a Coke after the round. He loved mini-golf so much that Warren would take him to courses wherever their vacation travels took them. Tim even had a putting green set up in his room in Watertown. He was a life-long fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, James Bond, going to the lake, and watching movies with his family. Timothy Bruce was the best hugger in the world. He was very entertaining: He could make people laugh, especially with unique versions of songs where he applied his own words. He also had a knack for jokes and puns. His bright smile lit up his face and the room. It was impossible to be sad when Tim was happy. His good mood was contagious.

Tim Olson is survived by his brothers Dennis and Steven (Linda) Olson and his sister Connie (Don) Lubbert, nieces Carey (Shawn) Olson Findley and their son Elliott, Alison Lubbert, Adrienne (Austin) Helgeson and their children Avery and Lennon, and his nephew Cavan Olson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wub and Loy, and a niece, Leigh Lubbert.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the future, when weather permits people to travel. Tim's family would like to thank his former teachers, who all worked hard to give him a normal school experience. We also thank his second family, the staff and employees of the Human Service Agency in Watertown, who treated him with love, care, and respect.
