Funeral Service for Thomas Andrew Anderson Sr. 53, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Enemy Swim Community Center, Enemy Swim, SD with the Rev. Jerome Renville officiating. Pallbearers will be Jesse, Thomas Jr., Glen, Gene, Bruce, Colin, Dana and Richard Redwing; Honorary pallbearers will be all of Thomas's Family, Friends and Co-workers. Interment will be in the St. James Episcopal Cemetery, Enemy Swim, SD. Military Rites will be provided by the American Legion Post #314. There will be a Prayer Service on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the St. James Guild Hall, Enemy Swim, and an all night wake on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 starting at 7:00 PM at the Enemy Swim Community Center.
Thomas Andrew Anderson was born on April 1, 1957 in Sisseton, SD to Gene and Lucille (Robertson) Anderson. Tom grew up in Rapid City and Waubay area. He attended school at Waubay and graduated from Waubay High School. As a child Tom enjoyed riding his horse Chief and spending long summer days hunting gophers in the pasture, swimming or fishing at Owens creek. In the fall and winter Tom could be found playing football in the yard, hunting jack rabbits in the fields or tending to the cattle. As a teenager Tom discovered music, sometimes to the dismay of his siblings as he would spend long hours teaching himself how to play various songs on his guitar. Following his graduation he enters the United States Army and served from August 1974 to August 1975. Tom was a strong and quiet, hard working and easy going person. He enjoyed sharing childhood stories with his many friends and relatives. Tom worked for the Waubay School System for many years. He spent most of his life doing what he loved, building or fixing things. He had a special gift when it came to carpentry, plumbing or roofing. He attended Lake Area Vo-tech in Watertown for Electronics. At the present time Tom was working for the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate in construction management. He never left anything half done; he worked at it until it was right. Anyone who worked with him usually learned something from him. Tom was united in marriage to Cheryl Kampeska in Waubay, SD on March 10, 1975.He enjoyed his children and grandchildren; he loved them with all his heart and was fond of teasing his nieces and nephews. There will never be another Tommy. But we will catch glimpses of you in your children, nieces, and nephews. Part of you is still with us, until the day that we are all together again. Thomas passed away on November 6, 2010 from injuries he received in an auto mobile accident near Sisseton.
Thomas is survived by four children, Murretta Anderson of Enemy Swim, SD, Thomas Anderson Jr. of Sisseton, SD, Monica Anderson of Enemy Swim, SD, and Jesse Anderson of Sisseton, SD; five brothers and one sister, Glen Anderson Jr. of Sisseton, SD, Gene Anderson of Watertown, SD, Bruce Anderson of Sisseton, SD, Eileen Pfeiffer of Bay City, Michigan, Colin Anderson of Wahpeton, ND and Dana Anderson of Devils Lake, ND; six grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
