Memorial Service for Theodora "Teddi" LaBelle, 72, of Veblen, SD will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Family Life Assembly of God Church, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Vern Donnell officiating with pianist Sarah Aadland and soloist June Evenson . Honorary urnbearers will be Fran Hawkins, Geraldine Locke, Irene Renville, Peggy Johnson, Mayvonne Crawford, Deanna LeBeau and all her friends and family. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Theodora "Teddi" Fay LaBelle, 72, Veblen, SD, began her journey into the spirit world on September 9, 2018 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND surrounded by family.
Teddi LaBelle was born on April 4, 1946 in Sisseton, SD to John and Lillian (White) Frenier. Teddi graduated from Sisseton High School in 1964. Teddi married Duane P. LaBelle in September 1965 and together they had two children; Wayne LaBelle and Lisa LaBelle. Teddi and Duane also raised Melissa White and Eric White. They began their lives together in Chicago, Illinois. In 1972, they returned to South Dakota eventually building their home near Veblen, SD, where they currently reside.
Teddi worked at Indian Health Service (IHS) in the Medical Records Branch in Sisseton, SD, for 29 years before retiring in 2003. Teddi then worked for the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribe before permanently retiring in 2013. Teddi was very proud of the work she accomplished at both IHS and the Tribe.
Teddi loved to watch new movies on Netflix, sewing, shopping, spending time with family and contacting family using Facetime. Teddi and Duane would travel to Alaska and Michigan to support their grandchildren in special events. Teddi was a member of the Family Life Assembly of God where she loved to pray. Praying with her bible was always important to her because her father and great grandfather were also minsters.
Theodora LaBelle is survived by her husband Duane P. LaBelle (Veblen SD), son Wayne & Shirley LaBelle (Warner SD), daughter Lisa LaBelle (Sisseton, SD), foster daughter Melissa Mireau (Sisseton, SD) foster son Eric White (Sioux Falls, SD) granddaughter Amanda LaBelle (Fairbanks, AK) granddaughter Joanna LaBelle (Fairbanks, AK) granddaughter Stephanie Eller (Ypsilanti, MI), grandson Samuel Tohocoka (Sisseton, SD), granddaughter Hannah Tohocoka (Sisseton, SD) and great grandson Len Anderson (Fairbanks, AK) along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
