Funeral services for Thelma Alice Jordal, 94, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton, SD with Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth. Pallbearers will be Roger Gunderson, Curt Block, Wade Johnson, Stephen Jordal, Donald George, and Randy Benson. Honorary pallbearers will be "All of Thelma's Family and Friends." Interment will be in the One Road Bethel Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton, SD. Thelma Alice Benson was born on September 20, 1918 at Sisseton, SD to Ole and Beret (Vike) Benson. She grew up and attended school at One road Township #1 country school. After her education she helped her parents on the farm. She was married to Joseph Bennie Jordal on July 13, 1935 at the Bethel Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple farmed in One Road township and they both worked at Lohre's Station and Landsbergers Creamery. They moved to Sisseton in 1962 and Thelma worked at Tekakwitha Nursing Center in the Housekeeping Department for 30 years. Thelma liked to quilt, crochet, do arts and crafts, play cards, and she kept the family history. She passed away peacefully on April 3, 2013 at the Tekakwitha Nursing Center.
Thelma is survived by five children, Betty and (Gerald) Block of Sisseton, SD, Larry and (Eve) Jordal of Missoula, MT, Audrey and (Ted) Harrison of Salina, OK, Tamra Coons of Littleton, CO, and Lonnie Jordal of Golden, CO; twelve grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren, and one sister Mrs. Julie Steen-Gunderson of Lima, Ohio.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter Carol, one step grandson Toby, five sisters; Agnes, Hilda, Borghild, Beatrice, and Edith, and two brothers, Leif, and Sigurd.
