Sylvia Louise Hanson's Obituary
Funeral Service for Sylvia L. Hanson, 84, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Jeff Kalb officiating. Organist will be Clarice Arbach. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dirk Hanson, Ross Hanson, Cody Hanson, David Wheeler, Anthony Neumann and Taylor Neumann. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Sylvia's many friends. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Thursday, December 18, 2008 from noon to 7:00 PM with family present from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Sylvia Louise Rinas was born on June 16, 1924 in Sisseton, SD to Dan E. and Hattie (Strube) Rinas. She attended country school and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1943.
Sylvia worked in Seattle, WA during the war for Boeing. Sylvia returned to Sisseton and was united in marriage to David Hanson on January 3, 1947 in Wentworth, MN. They made their home near Sisseton. Sylvia was a fantastic cook and baker. She enjoyed dancing, camping, sewing Halloween costumes, crocheting afghans, growing roses, loved to do repairs on the antiques that she collected, working crossword puzzles, bowling, and attending Christian Women's. She was once the Princess of the Trail Ride. Sylvia was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Sylvia was a member of Fort Sisseton VFW auxiliary #3342 and Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Auxiliary #50. Sylvia passed away on December 16, 2008 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD.
Sylvia is survived by four children, Marie and husband, Ron Wheeler of Huron, SD, Gary and wife, Angie Hanson of Sisseton, SD, Paul and wife, Sheryl Hanson of Sisseton, SD, and Julie and husband, Keith Neumann of Willmar, MN; one brother, Wendell and wife, Harriet Rinas of Stanwood, WA; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Wesley and wife, Joyce Hanson of Sisseton, SD.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David, and one grandson, John Hanson.
