Obituary

Funeral Mass for Stanley C. Schade, 72, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Gregg Frankman celebrant. Organist will be Cindy Marohl and Song leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be David Stillson, Paul Stapleton, Marlon Steiner, Kenneth Hannasch, Frank Karst, and Duane Schneider. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD.  There will be visitation on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Stanley was born on November 14, 1946 in Sisseton, SD to Carl and Gladys (Anderson) Schade. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sisseton, SD and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton, SD. He graduated from Sisseton High School in 1964 and attended SDSU in Brookings, SD for three and a half years. After college he moved to Minneapolis, MN where he worked as a machinist and met his future wife. Stan was married to Carol Erickson on August 10, 1968 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Sisseton, SD. In 1975 Stan's step-father Martin Berg retired from farming and the couple returned to Sisseton and purchased the farm in Hart Township. They raised wheat, soybeans, and corn. Stan could fix anything and did all his own repairs on the farm. In June of 2015 after a four wheeler accident Stan was diagnosed with chronic leukemia. He continued to farm until 2018. In April of 2019 the leukemia changed to acute. After being hospitalized at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND, Stan returned to Sisseton, SD where he passed away at Tekakwitha Nursing Center on Hospice care after four days, on June 15, 2019.

Stanley lost his father at the young age of two and spent a lot of time living with his uncle and aunt, Orven and Lenore Feten on their farm by Clear Lake, SD while his mother taught school. Stan and Carol enjoyed going to SHS Basketball games, golfing, and traveling to visit family and friends. They went to Australia twice to visit family there. They had no children but were very active in their eleven god-children's lives.

Stanley is survived by his wife Carol of Sisseton, SD; two sisters, Karen and Gerry Oyen of Pueblo, CO, and Ardys and Terry Pulse of Rapid City, SD; two sisters in law, Joy and Gene Hrncir of Watertown, SD and Lynda Erickson of Hutchinson, MN, several nieces and nephews, and eleven god-children, Jason Samson, Michelle Luce, Jamie Dempsey, Lisa Clendenin, Sara Hrncir, Eric Hrncir, Angie Elton, Austin Gunderson, Hannah Feten, Miles Oyen, and River Clendenin.

He is proceeded in death by his grand-parents, Rev. Carl and Emma (Eikelberg) Schade, and Henry and Mathilda (Ericsson) Anderson, his parents, Carl and Gladys Schade, step-father Martin Berg, stepfather and mother in law, Nick and Marie Hollen, two brothers in law and their wives, Gene and Margie Erickson, and Lawrence and Jenny Erickson, and nephew and wife Alan and Ada Hrncir.
