Stacey Allan Wanna, 54, of Peever, South Dakota passed away on September 11, 2020 at Sisseton, South Dakota. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Kateri Hall, Sisseton, South Dakota with Rev. Fr. Gregg Frankman Celebrant. Pall bearers will be Reynold Dumarce, Mike Gill, Randy Perez, Thoody "Polar Bear" Thode, Jayce "Roo Roo" Wanna, Alois "Jeffy" Wanna III, Robert "Big Bob" Wolf Felipe "Pito" Torres, Jerwyn "Big Bopper" Marks, Lincoln "Sonny" Wanna Jr., Craig "Platter" Wanna, Leroy "Big Ragu" Quinn Jr. Derek "Spare Rib" DeMarrias, Wallace "Frosty" Hosie, Sampson Hill, Jake Thompson, Wayne German Sr., Francisco "Frankie" DeLaPaz, Sequoyah St. John, Tom "Tommy Taniga" Wilson. Special music will be by Bryan Akipa and Tim White. Drum Group will be Long Elk.   Military Rites provided by Kit Fox Society. Interment will be in St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery, Veblen, South Dakota. There will be a Family Service on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. and an all night wake on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 stating at 6:00 P.M. at St. Kateri Hall. Stacey Alan Wanna, 54, Ohitika Hok'sina (Strong Boy) of Peever, South Dakota peacefully journeyed to the Spirit World on Friday September 11, 2020 at Coteau des Prairie Hospital. He was born on November 23, 1965 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Alois Wanna Sr. and Delphine (Gill) Wanna. Stacey lived a majority of his life in South Dakota. He attended the Sisseton Public Schools and also Flandreau Indian School and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1984. After graduation, Stacey left for Clearfield, Utah where he enrolled in the Job Corp and later enlisted in the US Army as Infantryman TOW Gunner where he was stationed in Schweinfurt Germany 3 ^rd Infantry Division. He was very passionate about boxing and was a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Boxing Club, Flandreau Indian School Boxing Club and Clearfield Job Corp Boxing Club. Stacey was an exceptional boxer; his titles included District Silver Gloves Champion, Welter Weight Champion in Utah, Feather Weight and Light Weight Champion in South Dakota and District Golden Gloves Champion. Stacey was employed by Dakota Poultry of Watertown after which he took a break to take care of his Step-father, John "Skip" Wilson. He then began his life long career working in the hospitality and gaming industry. He was an extraordinary bartender, often referred to as the "best bartender this side of the Mississippi including the other side of the Mississippi too" and worked in numerous establishments throughout NE South Dakota. He was employed by Dakota Nation Gaming Enterprises both as a Lounge Manager at Dakota Magic Casino and Bingo Caller at Dakota Connection. Stacey was quite the comedian – He didn't hold back talking about his love for his special friend "Patches". He kept everyone he knew laughing with his hilarious storytelling. Stacey was well known for his originality in his Halloween costumes and kept many in anticipation to see what hilarious and outlandish creations he would come up with. Stacey became the family historian and was extremely knowledgeable and looked forward to family gatherings allowing him to engage in his favorite past time…visiting. Stacey was a devout member of St. Kateri Catholic Church. He often expressed his love for God and would share his experiences he had with the Creator. The Church teaches that following the example of Jesus helps believers to grow more like him, and therefore to true love, freedom, and the fullness of life. Stacey followed these teachings and he lived his life accordingly. He was always willing to help others and went the extra mile to do so. He never complained about what life dealt him, he was grateful for each day and thanked the Creator for his family and friends. Stacey was known as "Uncle" to everyone who knew him.

Stacey is survived by his children, Scarlett Wanna of Watertown, SD, Gabrielle Wanna of Peever, SD, and James Shindelbower of   Okinawa, Japan; his mother, Delphine Wanna of Sisseton, SD; three brothers, Alvin Arellano of Chandler, AZ, Keith and Jeff Wanna of Sisseton, SD; two sisters, Carlotta Kay Strom of Monticello, MN and Brenda Wanna of Minneapolis, MN' four grandson, Ashton Lohness, Harlow Kiyukanpi, Riot White, and Cobian Wanna; four granddaughters, Jennessy Wanna, Danger Wanna, Sapphire Wanna and Briella Wanna.

Stacey was preceded in death by his father, Alois Wanna; grandson, Dallas Wanna; maternal grandparents, Donald and Emily (White) Gill and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Ella (Hill) Wanna.
