Funeral Service for Sophia Sheila Renville, haŋhgepi Wi Teca Wiŋ "New Moon Woman", 54 of Rapid City, SD will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center Agency Village, SD with her nephew Pastor Christopher Enno officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl and Drum Group will be Sophia's Seaboy Brother's Drum Group. Pallbearers will be Ashton "Ace" Lohnes, Harlow Keoke, Cory Renville, Jerry Renville, Jayden Barse and Kenny Abraham Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Londel Seaboy, Dannyboy Seaboy, Eric Hisgun, Marvin Hisgun Jr., Eugene King Jr., Viva Jo (Seaboy) DuBois, Nicole Aguilar, Aimee Seaboy, Jennie Seaboy, The Crazy 8's, Renetta Ironheart, Sheila Ironheart, Kim Thompson, Julie Bird, Leah Anderson, Dina Owen and Carol Owen. Inurnment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery at a later date. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge funeral arrangements.
Sophia Sheila Renville, 54, was born on November 4, 1968 to Agatha Theresa (Renville) Hisgun in Sisseton, SD. She lived in Sisseton, SD and was raised by Cecil "Corby" and Madeline Renville, Sophia attended school at Big Coulee Head Start, Peever Elementary, Sisseton Middle School, where she held the track record for the one mile run. She graduated with her high school diploma from Tiospa Zina Tribal School in 1988. Sophia met Stacy Wanna and to this union two daughters were born, Scarlett Adaire and Gabrielle Grace. Sophia moved to Rapid City and met the father of her two sons Mark Weaver Jr. and Matthew Weaver. Sophia worked as a CNA while in Rapid City. She later met Hector Perez with whom she had two daughters Veronica Perez and Chloe Ann Perez. Sophia moved back to Sisseton and went to Sisseton Wahpeton College and got numerous awards for achievements in her education. She pursued her degree in chemical dependency counselor. Following her education, she had worked at the Woman's shelter helping our community and worked at Dakota Pride Treatment Center. Sophia had a big heart and loved helping others with her own life experiences and sharing the word of God. Sophia loved all of her 15 grandchildren and spent the last years building bonds with her daughters and grandchildren. The last years of her life she fought her battles while helping her daughters fight theirs. She was a strong woman in every way possible. Sophia was a beautiful poet and loved poetry. She got to go visit and see Princes house, she got to go see a Vikings game, as well as, her dream to see the ocean in California and now she is with her Savior and Lord Jesus. She has accomplished many things throughout her life, and she was a woman of faith. Sophia left this world on September 2, 2023. She will be truly missed by her sister Connie & Papa Abraham, daughters Scarlett Adaire and Gracie "Baby Amazon", Veronica Jazzee and Chloe Ann and all her grandchildren.
Sophia is survived by her four children, Scarlett Wanna of Sioux Falls, SD, Gabriele Wanna of Peever, SD, Veronica Perez and Chole Ann Perez of Rapid City, SD; fifteen grandchildren; her mother Agatha Theresa (Renville) Hisgun of Esteline, SD; significant other Kenny Brown and his two daughters Little Sophia and Emma of Rapid City, SD; five brothers, Danny (Delveen) Seaboy of Mandan, ND, Londel Seaboy of Sisseton, SD, Eugene King Jr. Marvin Hisgun Jr., and Eric Hisgun; six sisters, Aimee Seaboy of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Jennie Seaboy of Tama, Iowa, Nicole (Eduardo) Aguilar of Oklahoma City, OK, Carol (Cary) Enno of New Town, ND Madonna King of Sioux Falls, SD, Marvel (Jose) Hisgun-Mijango of Estelline, SD; special aunt Connie ( Dean) Abraham of Sisseton, SD; uncles Glen Renville of Sisseton, SD and Harvey M. Renville of Sioux Falls, SD; grandpa Vine Marks Sr. and special friends Angie and Janet and Jeremy Brown; special cousins, Rochelle, Melissa, Cory Renville and Kellie Conley Swifteagle, Alvin Kopas, Kyleen Neilen, Teddy Frenier, Charlene Redearth and Debbie Bernard.
Sophia was preceded in death by her father, Nicodemus "Danny" Seaboy; two sons, Mark Shannon Weaver and Matthew Sky Weaver; grandson, Dallas Rayne; grandparents Cecil and Madeline Renville, Didymus and Florence Seaboy.
