A Funeral Service will be held for Solomon Charles Shepherd "Aké Mani" Walks Again, 79, of Peever, SD on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with meal starting at Noon. Pastor Milton Owen and Pastor Jerome Renville officiating with Drum Group: Old Agency Singers and Pianist Billy Kohl. Pallbearers will be Edward Rousseau Sr., Lance Haug, Noah Bernard, Isaiah Bernard, Dion Bernard, Abrey Flute, Paulie Soulia, Leo Soulia, Paul Renville, Rain Shepherd, and David Seaboy Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be All of Solomon's Friends and Family. Wake Services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 and Friday, July 11, 2025 starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Community Center. Interment will be at the Eagles Wing Baptist Cemetery, Peever, SD. Solomon passed away on June 9, 2025 at the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton, SD.
Solomon Charles Shepherd (Boské/Sleepy) was born on March 3, 1946 in Sisseton, SD to Solomon Ole Shepherd and Victoria Barker-Seaboy-Shepherd. To this union there were ten children: Hildreth, Edna, Moses, Madeline Seaboy, Della Bernard, Sophronia Crawford, Solomon, , Gideon, Magnus, Baby Joseph Shepherd all of Peever, SD.
Solomon (Charlie – Boské/Sleepy) attended school in Wahpeton and Flandreau. After his schooling he traveled to numerous states. After returning home Charlie did farm labor for various farmers. He was a jack of all trades. Some of his hobbies, he liked to listen to songs from Blondie and Crystal Gale and he loved taking care of his nephews, nieces, and grandchildren. He was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, and his favorite Drum Group was his nephews Delmer and Darwin Bernard and Company.
Charlie leaves behind one sister Sophronia Crawford; nephews, nieces and numerous grandchildren.
Charlie is preceded in death by his father Solomon Ole Shepherd; mother Victoria Shepherd; sisters Hildreth, Edna, Madeline, and Della; brothers Moses, Gideon, Magnus, and baby Joseph; Kunsi's and Unkanna's; nephew Alan Shepherd; a niece Gail.
