Memorial Service for Sheryl M. Simonson, 70 of Sisseton, SD will be held Friday, April 24, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Estelle Pearson and soloist will be Krystal Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kervin Simonson, Burdell Simonson, Rodney Simonson, Orris Simonson, Randy Wolhaupter, and Debi Simonson. There will be visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Sheryl was born on October 15, 1938 to Roy and Helen (Marilious) Wolhaupter at St. Paul, Minnesota. She grew up and attended Johnson High School in St. Paul, MN. Following her education Sheryl worked at Univac and Fire & Marine Insurance Company, as a file clerk. Sheryl was united in marriage to Arden Simonson on January 24, 1970 in St. Paul, MN. They made their home in St. Paul until 1974 during that time their daughter Debi was born. Then they moved to New Baltimore, Michigan where they lived until 2006. Sheryl loved to cross-stitch, paint and was a very good copy artist. She collected recipes and was a cat lover, and a very good record keeper. Sheryl entered the Tekakwitha Living Center for several days before she passed away on April 19, 2009 from complications of Crohnes Disease.
Sheryl is survived by her husband, Arden Simonson of Sisseton, SD; two children, Debi Simonson and James Simonson of Sisseton, SD; one step son Charles Simonson of Lac Du Flambeau, WS; and one brother, Randy and his wife, Maureen Wolhaupter, of Wyoming, MN.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents.
