Shawn was born on May 30, 1965, in Sisseton, SD to LaVern and Viola (Renville) DeMarrias. He was a member of Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate.
Shawn was raised and resided in Sisseton, St. Paul, MN, Sioux Falls, and Flandreau before moving to his final residence at United Living Community in Brookings, SD. After obtaining his GED and certificate in Culinary Arts, he worked a handful of jobs related to cooking. His favorite position was when he worked at Flandreau Indian School. Getting to know the students and being someone that they could talk to gave him a sense of purpose. He was kind and always had time for a conversation about sports, music, and movies. His hobbies included: Cooking, watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, making Art, and spending a majority of his life watching movies and listening to music. He was a Proud Grandpa who enjoyed spending time with family. Shawn passed away on April 30, 2024, at United Living Community, Brookings, SD.
