A Celebration of Sharon Haaland's life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Friday, August 16, 2024 at Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD and from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with a Prayer Service to follow. Funeral Mass Celebrant will be Fr. Ken Lulf, organist will be Cindy Marohl with song leader Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Adam Goetz, Shawn Goetz, Grant Goetz, Drew Goetz, Michael Stillson, Daniel Stillson, Allen Stillson, Ryan Lauer, Carter Schuurmans, Nathan Haaland, and Randy Haaland. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff at Coteau des Prairies Hospital and Clinic. Burial will be at the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

In Loving Memory of Sharon Haaland: Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Daughter and Devoted Nurse.

Sharon Haaland a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and dedicated nurse of 42 years, passed away unexpectedly with her husband by her side on August 12, 2024, at the age of 64.  Her life was a testament to love, compassion, and service, both to her family and to the countless patients she cared for throughout her remarkable career.

Born on December 8, 1959, in Sisseton to Les and Noreen Stillson, Sharon was a nurturer by nature. She married the love of her life, Darrell Haaland on June 5,1982, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion. Their bond was a source of strength and joy, lasting 42 years.

Sharon was the proud mother of Eric Haaland and Katie Gauthier, whom she and Darrell raised with unwavering love and guidance. Her role as a mother was one of her greatest joys, and she embraced it with all her heart. She later became a grandmother to Eli, Emma, Claire and Cade Gauthier and Lena and Oskar Haaland. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Sharon attended Sisseton High School, graduating in 1978. Her calling as a nurse was a natural extension of her caring nature. After earning her nursing degree from Presentation Colleges in 1980, Sharon dedicated 42 years to the nursing profession, working at Couteau des Prairie Hospital and Clinic for 39 years and Sisseton Public School for three years. She was known for her gentle touch, compassionate heart, and exceptional skill. Her commitment to patient care was unparalleled, and she made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered including all the younger nurses she mentored over the years.

Outside of her professional life, she was a devoted member of St. Peter's Catholic Church where she volunteered her time and talents as part of the St. Elizabeth Circle. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school events, reading, traveling, crafting, gardening, and was a regular at craft fairs. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially when surrounded by her family.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Darrell Haaland, her children Eric (Anne) Haaland, Katie (Jesse) Gauthier and her grandchildren Eli, Emma, Claire, and Cade Gauthier and Lena and Oskar Haaland. She also leaves behind her mother, Noreen Stillson; brothers and sisters: Greg (Sue) Stillson, Lisa (Doug) Lauer, John (Melissa) Stillson, David (Lisa) Stillson, Stacey (Kendall) Goetz, and Mary Schuurmans. Her love, wisdom, and kindness will remain in their hearts forever.

She is preceded in death by her father, Leslie Stillson and in-laws Harold and Arlene Haaland.

Sharon was an incredible woman who touched so many lives and will be remembered for her boundless love, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering commitment to her family and her profession. Her legacy of compassion and service will live on through the lives she touched and will continue to touch hundreds of lives after her passing through the Gift of Life Donor Program.
