Funeral Service for Sharon Lynn Flute-Blackcoon, Ta-Sphoo, will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, South Dakota. Officiating will be Pastor Vern Donnell and JC Crawford. Pianists will be Billy Kohl and Betty Nieland. The Pallbearers will be James Crawford IV, David Donahue, Bryant Brown, Jeff Wanna, Shane Brown, Mel Huff, Kyle Williams, Tyler Lureen, Colter Adams, Rossi Haynes, Jerwyn "Jerry" Rodlund, and Caeton LaFromboise. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joyce (Varns) Crawford, Anita Barse, Bill and Rhea Canku, Karla Witt, Debbie Richotte, Roseanne Bartunek, Cindy Host, Sharon Hopkins, Zelma Flute, Stacey Flute, Ester "Molly" DuMarce, Julia Bartels-Fike, Jamie German, Crystal Heminger, Jennifer Thompson, Jody Crawford, Phedora Wilson and daughters, Shelia Lureen, Cassie Lureen, Katie Lureen, Amy Lureen, Misty Schmidt, Carol and Dave Syverson, Kayla Hawkins, Rhoda Rodriguez, Deborah Heminger, Amber Adams, Angelic St. John, Jennie Crawford, Bev Rosso, Donnette Thompson, and Class of 1979. There will be a Wake service on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 7:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. at the SWOTCC. There will be an All-Night Wake service starting at 7:00 P.M. at the SWOTCC on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Interment will be at the Goodwill Presbyterian Cemetery in Agency Village, South Dakota. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Sharon Lynn Flute-Blackcoon was born to Jonah LaFromboise and Regina Flute on September 20, 1961, in Sisseton, SD. She graduated Sisseton High School in 1979 and later obtained an associate's degree in business specialist from the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community College in 2004. In 2004, she also attended Salish Kootenai College in Montana where she took classes regarding Social Work. During her early years, she attended Upward Bound in Vermillion, SD, and was involved in 4H. On October 12, 1979, she married JC Crawford at the Goodwill Presbyterian Church in Agency Village, SD, where they made their home, and to this union Heidi, James, and Rachel were born. In 1987-1995, Sharon worked at the SWST Daycare as a director. After that, she ran her own daycare
from 1996-1999. Sharon then was an employee, and eventually became a director, for the SWC Extension Program from 2001-2013. On August 4, 2011, Sharon and Derek Blackcoon were united in marriage. She began working at Early Childhood Development in 2014 and retired in 2017 due to health issues. Sharon was baptized at the Goodwill Presbyterian Church later in life. She enjoyed rummaging with Molly, going to the casino, and tending to her cherry plants, tomato plants, tulips, and flower garden. Her and Derek often attended the Family Life Assembly of God church in Sisseton, SD. Sharon was fond of her cat Ista and often fed the stray cats in the area. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family no matter how small the event was. She loved her TV shows, thrifting, and the simple things in life. Sharon had a big heart and showed her love for those in her life.
Sharon is survived by her husband Derek Blackcoon of Sisseton, SD; children Heidi Crawford, James Crawford III, and Rachel Crawford of Agency Village, SD; grandchildren Isabell Crawford, Roselynn Crawford, Jaime Crawford, James Crawford IV, Jaline Crawford, JahNya Crawford, Colter Crawford, Jacey Crawford, a soon to be grandchild Jonah Crawford, many other grandchildren; special niece Jenny Thompson, Shane, and kids; the Williams family; great-grandchildren Memphis Flute, Maverick Flute, Sylvanius Flute; and her cat Ista.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Jonah LaFromboise and Regina Flute; brothers Peter LaFromboise Sr. and Kevin LaFromboise; sisters Roseanne LaFromboise and AnneMarie LaFromboise; nieces Jaime LaFromboise and Alicia Ann LaFromboise; nephews Adam LaFromboise and Jason LaFromboise; and Grandma Linda Hill.
