Funeral Service for Samantha Sydney Shortman, Maga Tanka Ska Win, "White Swan Woman", 17, of Rosholt, SD will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Lake Traverse District Center, Lake Traverse, SD with Rev. Fr. Charles Chan, Lay Readers Katie McKay, C.R. James, and Jaime Whitethunder officiating. Pallbearers will be Andrew Shepherd Jr., Evan Shepherd, Anjelo Shepherd, Gabriel Rodlund, Quentin Barse, Lee Simon Jr., Adam LaFontaine Jr., and Austin Shepherd. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raelign Shepherd, TyRay Redday, Tressa LaPointe, Grace Archanbeau, Shayna Provost, and all of Samantha's friends and relatives. Interment will be in the St. John's Episcopal Cemetery, Lake Traverse, SD. Wake Services will be held Thursday and Friday, December 26 & 27, 2019 at 7:00 P.M at the Lake Traverse District Center, Lake Traverse, SD.

Samantha was born on January 30, 2002 in Yankton, SD to Gavin Shortman and Fern Keeble. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was always active, a happy go lucky girl, who always had your back. Samantha enjoyed riding horses, bicycling, drawing, and swimming. She was always on the go and a hard worker. Samantha was employed at Schilitz Foods for one season and was at Boxelder Jobs Corps studying for the past year for CNA and carpentry.  Samantha passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 in a car accident near Veblen, SD along with her boyfriend Bishop Swallow.

Samantha is survived by her mother Fern Keeble; three sisters Gavlynn Shortman and Lee Simon Jr. and their three children Xalee Gatlyn, Basileeah Hope, Gavin Lee Simon, Ramona Shortman and Tracy Brant Sr. and her three children Tracy Brant Jr., Jaxon Ezra Brant, and Kendall Shortman, Solara Fern Shortman; her Shortman family in Montana; hunka mom and dad Alana and Jerald RedBuffalo; hunka brothers Jeremiah, Nano, Curtis, Wesson, Kai; hunka sisters Angel and Leanna; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Samantha is preceded in death by her father; maternal grandparents; and paternal grandfather.
