Funeral Service for Rosemary T. Shepherd, Wiyopiyata Tate Win "West Wind Woman", 75 of Shakopee, MN will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with John Cloud III, Clyde Kampeska, Jerry Dearly and Miles Whitecloud officiating. The organist will be Billy Kohl.

Pallbearers will be Mason Shepherd, Tristan Shepherd, Sam Crawford Jr., Chaske LaBlanc, Anthony (Tino) Rodriguez, Termaine Fulton, Miles Whitecloud, Eddie Hernandez, Victor Hernandez, Tony Hernandez, Ray Hernandez III, Robert Hernandez Jr., Lazaro Sanchez and Gabriel Teran Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Rosemary's friends and relatives including all Sundancers.

A Wake Service will be held on Friday April 22, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton, SD will be in charge of arrangements.

Rosemary Theresa Shepherd passed away on December 22, 2022 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Our beautiful and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was born in Los Angeles, California where she grew up. In 1964, she graduated from Montebello High School in Montebello, Ca. After graduation, she attended East Los Angeles College. In her younger years, Rosemary loved shopping for clothes and make-up. She loved to dance and watch sports with her family. She met and married, Smiley Shepherd, who proved to be the love of her life. Everyone they encountered together witnessed the true love they shared for one another. They were well known for teasing each other and spent their later years taking care of one another. A multifaceted maverick and Jill of all Trades, Rosemary was blessed with extraordinary customer service skills and brightened up every establishment she ever worked. Her friendly mannerisms and bright smile made anyone feel comfortable and at home. She made a positive impact on everyone and was a positive influence to all those around her. Rosemary unconditionally and unselfishly loved her children and supported them all her life. She also made it her mission to care for her grand and great grandchildren. Rosemary was passionate about loving not only her family but the many extended family members she had. Her love for life was evident in the way she lived and treated everyone. Even just sitting in her living room turned into fun and laughter by all. She was also well known for her skillful, clever and impressive crafty projects. Most people that went to her home left with a gift of something she made. Rosemary was selfless to a fault. Often neglecting the needs of herself for the needs and well-being of her many friends and family. Smiley and Rosemary took in many nephews and nieces throughout their lives. Those of us, who were blessed to be touched by her, understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceeded the quantity of time she stayed here. To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement. Between the many friends and extended family members she cared for, Rosemary was a well-respected and cherished woman. Her kindness, generosity and her memory will live on forever.

Rosemary is survived by her loving husband, Smiley Shepherd, of Shakopee, MN. Sons; Bill Shepherd, of Albuquerque, NM; Albert Shepherd, of Shakopee, MN; Steve (LaShawn) Shepherd, of Bismarck, ND; and Eric (Jessica) Shepherd of Sisseton, SD; Grandson: Mason Shepherd, of Shakopee, MN; Special nephew, Eddie (Caroline) Hernandez of Yorba Linda, Ca; Brother, Robert (Cathy) Hernandez, of Hemet, Ca; and Sister, Sally Teran, of Victorville, Ca. Seventeen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends who she loved as her own.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Mary Lou Rivera; Father, Ray Hernandez; Brother, Ray Hernandez; Mother-in-law, Helen Shepherd; Father-in-law, Smiley Shepherd; Special Nephew Robert Shepherd and Special Niece Vicky Carriela Hernandez.
