Memorial Service for Rose Lorraine Max, 88 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall in Sisseton, SD with Robert Countepoix officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour before services at the Kingdom Hall.  Burial will be held at the Max Family Cemetery Agency Village, SD.

Rose was born April 11, 1935, to Robert and Helen (Nahoton) Max in Sisseton, SD.  She attended boarding school in Wahpeton, ND.  She went onto get her GED and later graduated from Sisseton Wahpeton Community College with an Associate's degree in Dakota Studies.  Rose was fluent in the Dakota language and loved to share the language with everyone.

Rose worked at Westside Elementary School as a Teachers-Aide, Dakota Connection, Dakota Pride Center as an In-take Counselor, and helped with various Dakota Language Programs.  She enjoyed several hobbies including making shawls, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, crafts, cooking and baking.  Rose Passed away on July 31, 2023, at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Webster, SD.

Rose is survived by three daughters Pat Taylor, Debora (Tom Locke) Richotte, Davana (Laverne) Blackthunder, adopted daughter Ann (Marsh) Patridge, one sister Joan (Jerry)Renville, son-in-law Clay Ayutapi, 23 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen (Nahoton) Max, grandfathers John Max Jr. and Samuel Nahoton, Grandmothers Julia Simon and Isabelle Grey Earth (Maka Kota), son Robert W. Thompson and daughter Florence (Rogene) Dogskin, brothers Vincent Max Sr, Robert Herbert Max, and sisters Irene Shepherd and Teresa Hart and seven grandchildren.

Rose had a great love for God and his word the Bible and always shared her faith with others.
