Funeral Service for Robyn Rose Cochran, 40, of Brookings, SD, will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Agency Village, SD, at 11:00 a.m. with Senior Catechist John Cloud III officiating. Pall Bearers will be Hutchie Neconish, Chebon Eastman, Ronnie GoodEagle, Mike Tullefson, Jay Schafer, Justin Redday, Tyson Flute, John Marks, Dom Cournoyer, and Jorey Layne. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Damien Cournoyer, Dreamer Cournoyer, Lalo Montoya, Shaylene Montoya, Sunni Blair, Jaycee Fischerman, Isiah Fischerman, Nellie Bettelyoun, Chad Marks, and her beloved uncles Hoki and JJ Marks. There will be lunch served following the service at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD, is in charge of arrangements.

Robyn Rose Cochran – Marks, age 40, was born and raised in Flandreau, SD on March 21, 1986. On the way to the hospital her mom saw 4 robins and said, 'look 4 robins, a sign of spring, if I have a girl I will name her Robyn.' Her middle name comes from her mom's Godmother, whose name was Rose. When she was a little girl she would say, 'Mom we just live in Flandreau, Grandma's is home, enit?!' This is because her mom always said we are going home. Robyn attended the Flandreau Public schools, Circle of Nations School, Wahpeton, ND and the Flandreau Indian School. She received her GED and then attended Job Corp in Nemo, SD where she studied culinary arts. She was a good cook, always cheffing it up and trying different spices in everything she cooked. Her specialty was Gourmet Goulash, jk. She had many friends that she made throughout her life, especially her childhood friends of which she shared a strong bond with throughout adulthood. She especially had a very strong, sisterly bond with her friend Shaylene and her kids. She was also very close to some of her cousins that she grew up with. She was Aunty Robyn to many of their kids. Robyn worked hard on improving her life, not just for herself but for her children, making a home for them in Brookings. She had 4 beautiful children that she adored, taking them to the many parks in Brookings, she knew where every park was. The favorite was the Brookings Nature Park because it reminded her of the woods back home. She would let the kids run on the paths of the woods and play to their hearts content. They would go to different State Parks to go swimming, and whenever they visited back home, Sica Hollow was her favorite. She would have movie night with the kids, and let them make beds on the floor, making them popcorn and giving them their favorite snacks. Robyn was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive liver cancer in February 2026, she was given a life expectancy of 3 – 5 years. She started Chemotherapy at the Prairie Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Unfortunately, in May, it was discovered that the cancer had spread to her brain and given a life expectancy of 3-6 months. She was a fighter to the very end and passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026. Our hearts are broken.

Robyn is survived by her mother Lori K. Marks; brothers Hunter Jones and Chebon Eastman; children Robyn Faith, 10, Jorey Layne, 9, Heavenly Hope, 8, and Victoria Joy, 3; grandparents Vine T. and Etta Jo Marks; aunts Sherilyn (Sheri, Tyson, Thomas, Tanner) and Rainee, (Justin, John); uncles Vine "Hoky" Marks, Jr, (Chad, Mariah) and Jerwyn, "JJ" Marks, (Jaclyn); special cousins Nellie Bettelyoun, Hutchie Neconish, and Ronnie Good Eagle; and close friend Shaylene Montoya.

Robyn is preceded in death by her grandma Geraldine Marks and great-grand parents Vivian Marks, David Marks, John and Beulah DuMarce.
