Robert L. Julius age 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday October 29.
He passed away while doing what he loved on the land that he cherished. Robert proudly served in the US Navy during WWII as a Gunnar's mate on the SS India Victory Ship. Robert was a long time resident of Roberts County. His early years were spent growing up near Browns Valley, Minnesota. He spoke fondly of times as a youngster hunting and trapping along The Little Minnesota River.
Throughout his life he maintained a fondness for wildlife, the outdoors and preserving the land and woods on the family farm and ranch. Robert was responsible for planting and nurturing many species of trees on the land and always enjoyed watching them grow and flourish.
It can be said he had a special fondness for all aspects of the farm and ranch operation. He often reminded others that remaining active is what gave him the passion for life and kept him younger than his years.
Roberts lesson to all was not to dwell on the past or worry about the future but to to live in the present moment so that you never miss the wonders before you.
He was blessed to share 65 years of marriage with his wife Arleen, who was a constant partner in making their beloved farm and ranch a success. Later, not wanting to give up his passion for the land and livestock he continued to be a part of the ranch operation with his son Alan and daughter in law Debbie. Robert was always ready and more than willing to lend a helping hand doing what he loved.
He is survived by his wife Arleen (Brown) four sons: Alan (Debbie) Sisseton SD, Scott (Kim) of Vale SD, Robert (Louann) Watertown, SD, Steven (Tereasa) of Lexington, KY and one daughter Nancy (Pastor Patrick Lewellen) Spearfish, SD. He is also survived by his sister MaryLou Wallenstein of Huron SD and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceeding him in death are his parents, aunts, uncles, and great grand daughter Anna Julius.
