Funeral Mass for Robert John George, 73, of Sisseton, SD will be held on October 31, 2020 at 11:30 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Gregg Frankman celebrant. Organist will be Cindy Marohl and Song Leader will be Georgia Streier. Pallbearers will be Tom Hunt, Darrin George, Michael Barth, Dara George, Jeremy George, and Jesse George. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Roberts nieces and nephews. Military rites will be provided by the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and the Fort Sisseton V.F.W. Post #3342. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation on Saturday, October 31, 2020 one hour prior to services at the church. Masks and social distancing are recommended. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Robert John George was born on February 21, 1947 in Sisseton, SD to Paul and Angeline (Gonsior) George. He grew up in Sisseton attending school and excelling in football, track, and wrestling. He graduated in 1966 and was drafted into the U.S. Army serving for two years. Robert loved art especially doing portraits. He also worked as a carpenter until a fall caused him to retire. After living in St. Paul, MN, Robert returned to Sisseton, SD. He passed away on October 26, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Robert is survived by one daughter, Michelle from Texas, one brother Dennis and Dianna George of Morris, MN, five sister, Louise and Danny Barth of Missouri, Delores Schwake of Texas, Pauline George of California, Carol and Bill Watkins of St. Paul, MN, and Darlene and Dick Gannon of Roseville, MN, and a sister in law Anita George of Cold spring, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Raymond George.
