Bob was born to Nels and Helga (Ronshaugen) Estwick in Webster, SD on September 19, 1933, the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Webster High School in 1951 and attended SDSU before joining the US Army in 1952 during the Korean Conflict. While in the Army, he was stationed in Leipzig, Germany and Orleans, France and was selected for the military honor guard. Bob was on the Army base's championship basketball team while stationed in France. Bob was honorably discharged from the Army in 1954. He returned to South Dakota and worked his way through college, graduating from Northern State in 1960 with a degree in Business Administration.
Bob married Gloria Schmidt at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Webster, SD on August 22, 1959. He worked for Federated Mutual in Owatonna, MN, Kansas City, MO, and Webster, SD, before joining the State Highway Department. In 1970, Bob and his brother Cab purchased Grain Belt Distributing which became Estwick Distributing in Sisseton, SD. Bob and Gloria built, owned, and operated I-29 Motel in Sisseton, SD, retiring in 1997. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Bob was instrumental in bringing Barbershop harmony and annual shows to Sisseton as a founding member of the Sisseton Barbershop Chapter. He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing expeditions with his brothers. Bob's greatest joys were family, music (especially Barbershop, polka, and familiar hymns), Hankinson Polka Fest, dogs, "30 minute" construction projects, and breakfast at Billy's. Bob was a gentle, quiet, caring but private man that showed kindness to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He lived by the mantra, "kill 'em with kindness". He loved his family unconditionally.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Gloria, children Kay (John) Dorsey - Shreveport, LA, Karen Koeppe - Cary, NC, Cameron Koeppe - Saint Michael, MN, Paul (Hanne-Marit) Estwick - Sisseton, SD, grandchildren Rachel and Jonathan Dorsey, Austin (Danielle), Braden, and Kiana Koeppe, Kayla (Zach) Rehurek, Mia, Talia, Annika, and Noah Estwick, one niece, and one nephew.
