Memorial Service for Richard David "Dick" Tohm, 73, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Family Life Assembly of God Church in Sisseton, SD with Pastor Vern Donnell officiating. The organist will be Krystal Williams. Honorary Urnbearers will be all of Richard's children, grandchildren, and special friends, Bill and Alan Friskey, Dennis Gollambecki and Marvin Weyand. There will be a private inurnment at a later date. There will be visitation one hour prior to services at the Church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Richard was born on July 7, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN and was adopted by Ferdinand and Pauline (Joos) Tohm of Morris, MN. He attended school in Morris, MN and worked on the family farm, and for a janitorial service. Richard was married to Eileen Kirckof in Benson, MN in 1966 with whom he had a son and they later divorced. He met Judith Iverson in the spring of 1969 and they were married on April 14, 1971 in Sisseton, SD and were married for 45 years. After their marriage Richard served as a officer with the Sisseton Police Department for seven years where he was known as "Flash". He also worked as an EMT for Cahill Ambulance Service, worked construction, and also worked for the Roberts County Landfill, and was well known for his sales of produce.
He enjoyed fishing through all the seasons, watching his grandsons sporting events, playing cards and making the rounds square dancing with his wife. He and his wife Judy enjoyed spending time camping and traveling with their longtime friends, William "Bill" and Judy Friskey. Richard and Bill enjoyed doing all types of projects together. Richard passed away on January 1, 2016 at the Rosholt Care Center in Rosholt, SD.
Richard is survived by his wife, Judith of Sisseton, SD; his children Todd and wife Dennise Tohm of Platte City, MO, Sharnell and (William Ryan) Tohm of Browns Valley, MN, and Gerald and wife Caitlin Tohm of Sisseton, SD; grandchildren Devin, Hunter, Ashley, and David Tohm, and William Ryan Jr.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
