Funeral Service for Richard Larry Adams, 87 of Veblen, SD will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Kateri's Catholic Church Hall, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Ken Lulf Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Shad Adams, Thomas Adams, James Adams, Chris Adams, Patrick Adams Jr., and Gabriel Adams. Honorary Pallbearers are Craig Adams, Stan Borowicz, Lillian Adams-Douglas family, Elmer Adams family, J. Kenneth Adams family, Dale Adams family, Clayton Adams family, Russell Adams family, Patrick Adams Sr family, Delwin John Adams family, LaVerne DeMarrias family, V. June Renville family and the Thompson family. Interment will at St. Matthew's Catholic Cemetery, Rural Veblen, South Dakota. An all-night wake service will be Wednesday, August 21, 2024, beginning at 6:00 P.M. The Cahil Funeral Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Richard Larry Adams, 87, passed away August 14, 2024, in Yankton, SD. He was born in rural Veblen, South Dakota, on December 31, 1936, to Lazurus Adams and Virginia (DeMarrias) Adams. He graduated in 1954. After graduation, he moved to St. Paul, MN, where he met and married Audrey (Butler) Adams and from this union, Denise, Mark, Elizabeth, and Craig were born. He also had two sons, Leslie King and Pete Zenner. Richard and Audrey made their home and raised their family in St. Paul, MN. In 2000, they moved back to South Dakota and made their home in Veblen.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers and working on cars. He also employed as a mechanic at the St. Paul Airport for many years. He also loved western movies, traveling, gambling and the older country music of the 60s and 70s, some of his favorites were Conway Twitty and Buck Owens.

Richard is survived by his children, Denise Bell of Claire City, SD, Elizabeth (Stan) Borowicz of Eden, SD, Craig Adams of Veblen, SD, Leslie King of Buffalo Lake, SD and Pete Zenner of Beresford, SD, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Patrick Adams Sr. of New Effington, SD, Russell Adams of St. Paul, MN, Clayton Adams of Sisseton, SD, Delwin John Adams of Wagoner, OK and a sister, Sandra Adams-Owen of St. Paul, MN.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife Audrey; son Mark Adams; parents, Lazurus and Virginia, brothers Elmer Adams, Francis Adams, J. Kenneth Adams, Dale Adams and LaVerne DeMarrias; sisters Lillian Adams-Douglas, Ernestine Adams, and V. June Renville.
