Obituary

Funeral Service for Prescott Lee DuMarce, 37 of Waubay, SD will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Enemy Swim Community Center, Enemy Swim with the Rev. Les Campbell, Rev. Charles Chan, and Mike Peters officiating. Drum Group will be the Ridge Runners. Pallbearers will be Travis "Trapper" Shepherd, Hazen Thompson, Myron DuMarce, Eric DuMarce, Devlin DuMarce, Patrick Nanaeto, Jody Owen, and Jesse Lonefight. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeremy Owen, Jason LaFontaine, Steve Jackson Jr., Franky Jackson, Cyril Abraham, Silas Shepherd, Mason Bissonette, Jeremy Taylor, Lance Nanaeto, Jeff Hesla, Ray Shepherd, Mat DuMarce, Lyle Abraham, David Keeble and all of Prescott's many friends and family. Wake Services will be held at the Enemy Swim Community Center, Enemy Swim on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 7:00 PM, Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 7:00 PM and Monday, July 11, 2011 all night wake service at 7:00 PM.
Prescott Lee DuMarce was born on April 26, 1974 to Vera DuMarce at Sisseton, SD. He grew up and graduated from Flandreau Indian School and then went to the University of Minnesota at Morris, MN. Following his education he worked as a Black Jack Dealer, in the cage room, and then at Dakota Sioux Casino as the Gift Shop Manager. Prescott was presently working as a substitute teacher at the Enemy Swim Day School. He liked to fish, camp, be by the lake, and read. He was active in the Sioux Traditional Medicine. He was also keeper of the traditional Knowledge for the family. He passed away suddenly on July 7, 2011 at Sanford Hospital, Webster, SD.
Prescott is survived by his mother, Vera DuMarce of Waubay, SD; two children, Mariah Rose DuMarce of Agency Village, SD and Makasitomni DuMarce of Waubay, SD; one brother, Matthew DuMarce of Waubay, SD; four sisters, Anpao Buckanaga of Sisseton, SD, Hopsti Buckanaga of Wahpeton, ND, Hope DuMarce of Waubay, SD and Brittany DuMarce of Waubay, SD.
Prescott was preceded in death by his brother, Tate; and his maternal grandparents, Alma and Lincoln DuMarce.
