Funeral Mass for Pearl Mary Margaret Wilson, 88 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Hitpas, OMI and Rev. Fr. Tony Dummer, OMI Celebrants. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leaders will be Cindy Marohl and Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be B. J. Hill, Chuck Goodteacher, Mike DeMarrais, Jason Hull, Josh Wilson, Chester Wilson, Mike Carlson, and John Tchida. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be a Rosary Service on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
Pearl Mary Lampke was born on January 6, 1926 in Sisseton, SD to Alexander and Jennie (Fonder) Lampke. She grew up and attended school at St. Peter's Catholic School and Sisseton High School. As a teenager Pearl worked at the Chinks Chinese Café. Pearl was united in marriage to Leo Wilson in 1945. They lived in Minneapolis, MN and Sisseton, SD. Leo passed away in 1984. Pearl began her working career selling papers in Pop Dady's Tavern Pool Hall for 5 cents a paper. She worked for Landsberger Creamery for twenty years, and then she worked for Tekakwitha Nursing Home for eighteen years. She volunteered at the Tekakwitha Nursing Home working in the store and making sure anyone who wanted to go to church in the Chapel got to go, with her assistance. Another one of her fun duties was to deliver the fundraiser announcement for the priest to all the establishments in Sisseton and also selling tickets. In later years, her 80's some of you got asked twice or maybe three times to buy fundraiser tickets. She also volunteered at St. Peter's with the CCD kids making sure all had cookies and juice. She enjoyed making popcorn at St. Catherine's and was called "the Popcorn Queen" for Friday night bingo. Pearl enjoyed playing the penny machines at the Casino, she didn't have time to eat, and playing was her mission. She also did not drive so she walked where ever she needed to go, and sometimes three times a day up town. Pearl was named the "Pearl of Roberts County" by her friends and family at Tekakwitha, which she called her home. Pearl passed away on May 29, 2014 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD.
Pearl is survived by three daughters, Violet and husband Leo Hull of Eden, SD, Tammy and husband, Sal Goodteacher of Sisseton, SD, and Vicki and husband, LaVern DeMarrias of Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Lorraine Beaudry of Watertown, SD; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, Leo Wilson, Terry Wilson, and John Wilson; one sister Joyce McDowell, five brothers, Bill Lampke, Milo Lampke, Everett Lampke, Mernie Lampke, and Earl Lampke.
