Funeral Services for Paul Avery Little, "Mato Destinah Ohitika" Little Furious Bear, 46, of Browns Valley, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world on August 5, 2012. Funeral Service will be Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at SWST Community Center in Agency Village, South Dakota with Rev. Charles Chan, Vern Cloud, Jr. Heminger and Vern Cloud officiating. Pianist will be Kay Bursheim and Music by Joe White and Steve Farmer and Drum Group Grey Fox and Dakota Nation. Pallbears will be Cornelius Kirk Jr., Jon Mcgraw, Wambadi Gill, Fillmore Jackson, Robert Little, Londell Seaboy, Matt Little. Honorary Pallbearers will be "All of Paul's singing buddies, Family and Friends". All night wake services starting at 7 P.M. will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 and Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the SWST Community Center. Interment will be in the St. John the Baptist Episcopal Cemetery, Browns Valley, South Dakota. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
John Paul was born on May 24, 1966 to Darlyn Kitto and Paul Silverster Little. John Paul was a life resident of Lake Traverse District area and attended school in Browns Valley Public School grades K to 10 and graduated from Flandreau, South Dakota. He lived with his mom and Aunt Katie McKay. Paul enjoyed family birthday parties and sports, cook outs, fishing with his brother Carlos and friends, playing pool and going to church doings, watching rodeo's on T.V., watching movies and sports. He loved his grand children. He worked as a roofer, inside construction, at woodland cabinetry. He enjoyed playing cards at cousin Fern Keeble's house or at Carlos's house. He went to pow-wow's all over the U.S. and Canada. His favorite football team was San Diego Chargers. Paul journeyed to the spirit world August 5, 2012 at the Tekawitha Nursing Center, Sisseton, South Dakota.
Paul is survived by his mother Darlyn Kitto of Browns Valley, MN; five children; Shanda, Alice, Tyler, Rhonda, and Joyce Shepherd of Old Agency, South Dakota; a son Rex Godfrey. Seven grandson's and two grand daughter's, Mother of his children Charlotte Shepherd; Grandparents Marva and Ray Shepherd; Five brothers Robert and James Little of Montana; Arthur Little of Fort Totten, ND; Matthew Little of Fort Yates, North Dakota; two adopted brothers Bill Argo Jr. and Randy Boardman; Carlos and Lahoma Kitto of West Browns Valley, Minnesota; Silvester Little of New Effington, South Dakota; Four sisters Opal Little and husband Romeo Renville of Agency Village, South Dakota; Barbara and Joe Jackson of Fort Totten, North Dakota; Lil Paula Little of Mission, South Dakota, and Big Paula Little of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and two aunts Vastana and Katie McKay, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his father Paul S. Little of Fort Totten, North Dakota; aunt Alma Little; uncle Martin Little of Fort Totten, North Dakota; maternal grandparents Frances Irene and Charles Kitto; Paternal grandparents George Little of Fort Yates, North Dakota; two brothers Kennith Merick and White Man Little of Fort Totten, North Dakota; uncle Earlwin Kitto and aunt Ramona Keeble.
