Obituary

Patricia Margaret (Forrette) Becker, age 83, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton, SD. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. The Rev. Fr. Dan Smith will be officiating. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Pallbearers will be her seven children. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her brothers: Jim and Charles Forrette. There will be visitation on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.
She was born Patricia Margaret Forrette on May 8, 1931 to Benjamin and Clara (Henning) Forrette in Adrian, Minnesota. She attended St. Adrian Catholic School and graduated in the class of 1949. After high school she attended Presentation School of Nursing McKennan Unit in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated in 1952 with a Nursing degree and after passing her SD boards, she became a registered nurse. Patricia married Douglas Joseph Becker also from Adrian on June 2, 1953. They moved to Brookings, SD for Doug to attend SDSU and she worked as a surgical nurse and later took on the night shift. In June of 1957, the family moved to Sisseton. Patricia started work in the old Tekakwitha Hospital, and she continued as a night nurse at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital. She retired from her nursing career after 55 years of continual service. She was an active member of St. Peter's Church, belonging to the St. Francis Circle. She was a 4-H leader for a number of years when her daughters were active. Pat and Doug were avid square dance members of Corner Squares and often traveled to dance. She was a lifelong gardener and spent many hours tending her gardens. Patricia enjoyed crafts and left every individual within her family with special handmade gifts from her heart. She left a legacy of caring and cherished memories for a life time.
She is survived by her seven children; Jackie (Greg) Koch, Larry (Deb), Cheryl (Jim) Lyon, Cindy (Peter) Bremmon, Jim, Teresa (Tim) Meland, Mike (Fran), her 27 grandchildren; Elisha, Erin, Rachel, Laura, Nicole Koch; Miranda and Mark Becker; Steven, Kim, Nathan, Patrick, Jennifer Lyon; Kathryn, Douglas, Lydia, Claire, Raymond, Emily Bremmon; Chase, Weston, Randi Becker; Ben, Sarah, John, Anne Meland; Kelly and Jerime Becker and 21 great-grandchildren; Kennedy, Lucas, Margret, Jordan, Greyson, Charlotte, Lola, Lillian, Aubree, Adrianna, Carissa, Gavin, Zephyr, Liam, Emilia, Addison, MaKynlee, Tyler, Owen, Michael, Nolan, Marcus; two brothers, Jim (Dee Dee) Forrette and Charles (Monica) Forrette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas J. Becker, her parents, Benjamin and Clara Forrette, her brother, Clayton Forrette and her two grandsons, Richard Bremmon and Paul Meland.
