Funeral Service for Charles Osa Joseph "O.J." Fisher, 89, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth and soloists will be Lexy Nelson and Allan Dykstra. Pallbearers will be Jim Kriz, Don Kriz, Harlan Hilleson, Keith Guy, Mark Dykstra and Perry Dykstra. Honorary Pallbearers will be "All of O.J.'s Close Friends and Neighbors. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD There will be visitation on Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at the Cahill Funeral Chapel. There will be visitation on Monday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the Church. O.J. was born on February 8, 1921 in Red Iron Lake Township, Marshall County, South Dakota to Charles and Nina (Castle) Fisher. He attended school in Long Hollow, Roberts County, and Lakeview in Marshall County. He took over the family farm at the age of fourteen, after the death of his father. O.J. moved to
Boskko Township where he farmed and ranched and he did custom combining from 1958 until 1977. He married Lucille Derby in 1946 and they had three sons. They moved into Sisseton. O.J. was united in marriage to Sandra Dykstra in 1965 at Bethania Lutheran Church, Rosholt, SD, they had six children. He enjoyed early morning coffee at the cafes, playing cards, gardening, and western novels. O.J. passed away on April 22, 2010 at his home in Sisseton.
O.J. is survived by his wife, Sandra Fisher of Sisseton, SD; his children, Robert and Peggy Fisher of Sisseton, SD, Monte Fisher of Superior, WI, Michael and Tricia Fisher of Sisseton, SD, Michelle and Scott Nelson of Sisseton, SD, Patrick and Roberta Fisher of Rosholt, SD, Paul Fisher of Mitchell, SD and Susanne and Richard Tenold of Watertown, SD; one sister Elsie Hilleson of Veblen, SD, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
O.J. was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Melissa, one son Charles, one sister, Camilla and one grandson Dustin Fisher.
