Funeral Service for Orville David Renville-LaBatte Sr., 77, of Waubay, SD will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. with Brother Marlon Hunt, Orson Bernard, Lincoln Bird, Pastor Tom Hemstock, Pastor Jerome Renville, Kevin Redbear, Pastor Richard Felch, Joe Williams, Pastor Milton "Nippy" Owen, Jr. Heminger CLP and Vine Marks officiating. Special music by Joe and Kathy White and Moonlight Aadland. Pallbearers will be Carson LaBatte, Tyson LaBatte, Daniel LaBatte, Buddy Bird, George MacConnell, and Preston Fryer. Honorary pallbearers will be "All of Orville's Brothers and Brothers in Christ" and Janice LaBatte, Barb Wolfe, Bertha Greeley, and Carrietta Greeley. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery with Military rites provided by the Old Agency American Legion Post #314. Wake Services will be held at the Tribal Community Center at 7:00 PM on Wednesday with an all night Wake on Thursday. Orville David Renville-LaBatte was born on April 26, 1936 in Sisseton, SD to Violet Mable Renville and Archie Herbert LaBatte. Orville attended School at Old Agency & Peever, before he could finish his schooling he enlisted in the Army on January 1, 1955 with the Infantry Battlelion-Airforce Strikes which was during the Korean War as Teletype, he was honorably discharged in 1958. While he was employed at Wahpeton, he put himself in treatment at the VA Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD and later gave his heart to the Lord. He was employed at Wahpeton Indian School, Schweitzer's, SWST Tribal Police, IHS, CHR, and the SWO Maintenance Department and retired in 2000. He was married to Cynthia Walker on January 16, 1999 at Watertown, SD. They had a son David. Orville gave his heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at Blue Dog Lake. He and Cynthia traveled and sang for the Lord helping Brother Marlin Hunt with driving and helping with the Gospel camp meeting tent. Orville testified that Jesus and his wife Cynthia were the fulfillment of his life and he was grateful to the Lord for blessing him in so many ways. He met many brothers and sisters in the Lord throughout the United States and Canada. During his employment Orville had a youth traveling basketball team boys and girls every year, his own garage to keep up his mechanic skills and his own lawn mowing service. Orville took Jesus as his Savior in 1987 with him being saved also helped him quit his addictions. He passed away on August 20, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Webster, SD.
Orville is survived by his wife, Cynthia LaBatte of Waubay, SD; his sons, Carson Ray (Lucille) LaBatte of Sisseton, SD, Tyson Orville Ray (Natasha) LaBatte of Sisseton, SD, Samuel Lawrence, Daniel Orville (Mary Jane) LaBatte of Peever, SD, David Walker LaBatte of Waubay, SD; his daughters, Carrieth Annette Bravebull-Shepherd of Sisseton, SD, Orvella Rae ( Buddy) Bird of Sisseton, SD, and Sarah Violet LaBatte of Hankinson, ND; brothers and sisters in Christ, his paternal brothers, Dino LaBatte, paternal sisters, Roberta M. Flute, Glorine "Greenie" Renville, Rainelle F. LaBatte, Anita I Uribe, Sandy LaBatte, his maternal brothers, Les (Kathy) Barse Sr., Stanley (Sherry) Barse Sr., Randy, Frank, Russell and David (Elizabeth) Barse, his maternal sisters, Peggy (Darrell) DeCoteau, Brenda Solberg, Faith (Dennis) Erickson, Anita Johnson and Donna Barse; his grandchildren, Christopher Lane, Christi Layne Bravebull, Ceyana Jane Pilcher, Andrew David and Adrian Daniel Shepherd, Shennoah Violet, Gabrielle Jaelyn and Buddy Jay Jr. Bird, Chauncey Allen White, Jace Ray, Carson Ray, Jr. Joaqin Ray LaBatte, Tessa Deana and Tyree Caius LaBatte, Jaymin Daniel, Jelaina Marie, Lori Johanna, Hannah Jane LaBatte, Evan Zachariah and Josalia Mae LaBatte.
Orville is joining our Angels in heaven his father Archie, Mother, Violet, Brother Ronnie, sister Frances, adopted daughter Cindy "Cookie", three sons, David, Darren and Orville LaBatte Jr.
