Memorial Service for Orville Vern Brown, 86, of Sisseton, South Dakota will be Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton, South Dakota with Rev. William Schruba officiating. Organist will be Mona Greseth. Honorary Pallbearers will be "All of Orville's Hunting Buddies, and Family and Friends". Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Orville was born on July 22, 1926 near Sisseton, SD to Fred and Helen (Munzanreder) Brown. He grew up and attended country school. After his education his father passed away and Orville helped his mother with the farm and helped raise his siblings. Orville was married to Darlyne Foell on June 10, 1950 at Britton, SD. The couple farmed west of Peever, SD milking cows and later raising cattle and sheep. Orville was also a field man for the FSA for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and playing cards, and having coffee with friends. Orville and Darlyne loved to dance and attended many dances during their time together. The couple sold their farm in 1979 and moved to Sisseton, and lived on eighth avenue east for 32 years. They also spent five winters in Texas and they loved to travel. Health concerns caused the couple to move into an apartment, and Orville passed away suddenly on July 28, 2012 at a Watertown Hospital.
Orville is survived by his wife Darlyne of Sisseton, SD; one daughter, Gayle and her husband Dean Ballhagen of Beardsley, MN; one sister, Dorothy and husband Jim Carlson of Dawson, MN; one brother Calvin and his wife Nyra Brown of Watertown, SD; two grandsons, Kevin and wife Sara Ballhagen, and Justin Ballhagen, and two great-grandsons Austin and Blake Ballhagen.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Orrin and Ervin; and two sisters, Delcy and Marilyn.
