Obituary

Memorial Service for Oakley Traverse Amos, 26, of Peever, SD will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Big Coulee District Center, Big Coulee with Gerald Heminger officiating.  Urn Bearers will be Dakotah Amos and Waokiye DuMarce.  Honorary Urn Bearers will be Abbygail Young and Emmarae Young.  Inurnment will be in the Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery, Peever, SD.  There will be All Night Wakes on Sunday, July 9, 2023 and Monday, July 10, 2023 starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Big Coulee District Center, Big Coulee. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Oakley Traverse Amos was born November 18, 1996 in Breckenridge, MN and at a young age of 26 he journeyed to the spirit world on June 23, 2023.  Oakley had many parental figures that raised and helped him grow into the loving person we all cherished. Those figures being his birth mother Tricia Amos, grandmother Susan Quinn, second uncle Kevin Amos and his sister Lorraine.  In his youth, Oakley grew up in Big Coulee and that's where he experienced most of his life. With his personality like a wild flower you never knew what you would get but it was always promised to be beautiful.  Oakley knew how  to change a gray day into a sunny one with his smile and laugh. With welcoming hands he was always willing to help everyone with anything. Oakley enjoyed being in nature whether it be out in the garden or in the woods coming back with flowers and nice rocks he'd  find.  He was "one with nature" as he'd say.  Oakley also loved riding scooters with his cousin Aaden. Skate boarding with his brother Dakotah, and spa nights with grandma and the cousins. When Oakley was a kid he attended Enemy Swim Day School and later on transfered to and graduated from Wilmot Public School.  After high School he many jobs including, Woodland Cabinetry, Dakota Kitchen and Bath and hostess at Denney's, I Hop, and Hugger at LLC Contracting.

Oakley is survived by his mother Tricia Amos; his Grandmother, Susan Quinn, his brothers Dakotah Amos and Waokiye DuMarce, his sisters Emmarae and Abbygail Young, Lorraine Amos, His Uncle Kevin Amos and his wife Alyssa Fryer, his Aunt Consuelo White, Sarah Brown, Lee Ann Wright, and Lindsey Richotte, Darren Prisinger, his cousins Aaden Amos, Hanniel Prisinger, Hezekkiah Prisinger, Alexis St John, Alicia Cloud, April Amos and Moonlight Langdeaux.

Oakley was preceded in death by his great grandfather Clifford Quinn, his grandfather Calvin Amos Sr., his uncles Calvin Amos Jr. and Daniel Amos, his brother Mekiah Amos, his aunts Phoebe Thompson,. and Marie Quinn,  Donna Thompson., Willis Isaac Quinn, Melisa Thompson, Rochelle Amos, Autumn Thomson, and Kim Amos, his great great grandmother Grace Atkinson, great great great grandmother Emma Starlight-Wing, his grandmother Betty Amos,  great great grandmother, Clara Small, great grandmother, Dorothy Quinn and Joyce Feather, his cousin, Destry and  Alayla Richotte, Duran Richotte, Robert Richotte Jr. David Roberts, Chasity Owen-Amos,. Rest easy our Oaktree.
