A Funeral Service for Norman C. Johnson Sr., 57, of Sisseton, SD will be held at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community Center in Agency Village, South Dakota on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 11:00  A.M. with James JC Crawford, Louie Johnson, Dicky Johnson, and Jacob LaBlanc officiating. Pall Bearers will be Billy "Jr" Canku, John "Herm" Lincoln, Christopher "Full of Fur" Johnson, Nate Johnson, Maurice "Ruffy" Johnson, Kenneth "Jr Boy" Johnson Jr, Samuel "Jr" Crawford, Riley Bravebull, Norman Redwing "Lil Norm" ш, and TJ Max. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Sheldon Kipp, Todd Goodsell, Clay Crawford, Norman "Baby Norm" Redwing Jr., Morris Canku, Bill Canku Sr., Gabe Kampeska, Justin German, Darryl DeCoteau Jr, JJ Marks, Lonnie Fonder, Jay Tasa, Scott Hagen, Dewey Carlson, Brandon Deutsch, Dr. Mike Williams, Dr. Matt Peterson, Dr. Dan Foster, Mike Carlson, Sioux Warriors MC, and Joseph "KK" DeCoteau. Drum group will be Old Agency Singers and special music by Butch Felix. Pianist will be Billy Kohl. There will be an All-Night wake service on Monday, June 12, 2023, starting at 7:00 P.M. at Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community Center in Agency Village, South Dakota for family only. There will be a public All-Night wake on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, starting at 7:00 P.M. at the same place. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, South Dakota is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Norman Chris Johnson Sr. was born to Christopher and Shirley Redwing Johnson on June 4, 1966, in Sisseton, SD at IHS. Norman, also known as "Juice", went to Sisseton Public School and graduated in 1984. He continued his education at Sinte Gleska University where he received his AA degree. Norman went on to get a B.A degree at the University of North Dakota and then a Master of Science degree at the Utah State University. Finally, he received his Doctorate in Psychology (Ph.D) at Utah State University. Our mother Shirley and Lorraine German encouraged Norman to pursue his education. They were both very proud of him. He loved sports, played fast pitch softball, played rugby for UND and traveled abroad. Norman was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed taking his nephews Billy and Herm with him to Utah to hunt and fish with Mike Williams and Matthew Peterson family. He loved to golf with his family and his many friends. Norman was passionate about his work, counseling teens and adults here at T.Z.,  DNG, and was employed with SWO when he got sick in 2022. He was the director of T.R.E.E. and the Behavioral Health Program. Norman passed away suddenly in his sleep after a lengthy illness since October 2022 at the Wilmot Care Center. Norman was a good friend to many people everywhere. We would like to thank his friends and our community for all the phone calls, texts, Facebook messages, and just the out pouring of love that's been given to his children and Family. Norman is survived by his children Mauricia Redhawk Johnson and Norman Noah Ta' Olowan Johnson Jr. AKA "Hammer" of Spring Creek, SD; siblings Debbie Heminger, Annie and Butch Felix, Cookie Johnson, Louie and Sherry Johnson, Angi Johnson, Dicky Heidi Johnson, all of Sisseton, SD; Hunka brother Troy Goodsell of Praire Island, TX and Jeff Block of Sisseton,, SD; Hunka sisters Elena Wilson of Sioux Falls, SD and Linda Kriz of Sisseton, SD; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents Chris and Shirley Johnson; 2 of the triplet boys; grandparents Rena Heminger DeCoteau and Norman H. DeCoteau, Chris Johnson Sr., Alvina Hill Redwing and Theodore Redwing; brothers Alan(Bonnie) Johnson, Felix Johnson, Maurice Johnson; niece Autumn Johnson, and granddaughter Scottlyn Canku.
