Obituary

Graveside Funeral services for Myron Aadland will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at the Sisseton Cemetery with Rev. Vern Donnell officiating. There will be visitation from 10:30 AM until 1:30 PM at the Cahill Funeral Chapel.
Born November 8, 1939 in Sisseton, SD to Leroy and Clara Aadland, Myron grew up with 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He married Arlene Pettie from Bottineau, ND in 1958 and then moved to Seattle with their first born, Rhonda Kaye, in 1960 to seek greater opportunities. Myron began working for Manson Construction when their second child, Randy was born in 1961. Two years later their third child, Sharlene Gail was born. Myron worked in Alaska rebuilding bridges and docks after the devastating earthquakes. With a true entrepreneur spirit, an American work ethic and a can-do attitude, Myron, along with his lifelong friend from Sisseton, Donald Rice, purchased Suburban Paving, and enjoyed great financial success. Myron was an avid outdoorsman; he hunted and fished in many corners of the planet. He also enjoyed and excelled in snow skiing.
Myron's First Flight was on July 30, 1977 and later he purchased a floatplane. He retired in 1998 from the asphalt paving business. In retirement Myron expanded his love for flying by purchasing a helicopter. During this time he met his love and soul mate, Marilyn Martinez of Vashon Island. They spent a loving 10 years together traveling, fishing, boating and making a beautiful house into home in Olalla. Myron and Marilyn's life together was full of love and laughter. They spent many joyful times with their beloved dogs Teddy-bear and Smokey-bear, and most recently with Yogi-bear and Sophie.
Myron is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Clara, and his brother, Maurice of Claire City, SD. He leaves behind his beloved, Marilyn Martinez of Olalla, WA and his children, Rhonda Kaye of Pine Ridge, SD, Randall Aadland of Kirkland, WA and Sharlene Aadland of Woodinville, WA along with five grandchildren. Myron's Final Flight was on August 17, 2008.
