Memorial Service for Monte James Fisher, 61, of Sisseton, SD, will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton, SD with Pat Schubert officiating. Urn Bearer will be Patrick Fisher. Honorary Urn Bearers will be all Monte's friends and family. Interment will be in the Sisseton Veterans Cemetery in Sisseton, SD with military rites by Tribes United Veterans Association. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Monte James Fisher was born on July 25, 1960 in Sisseton, SD to Osa and Lucille (Derby) Fisher. Monte grew up and went to school in Sisseton. When Monte finished school he chose to enlist into the Army and served our country from 1977 till 1980. After Monte was done serving in the Army he moved to many different locations including Minneapolis, MN. While in Minneapolis he worked at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center as a cook for many years. Later in life he returned to Sisseton and lived with his brother Pat. Monte enjoyed fishing and he loved to cruise the countryside, stopping to visit friends and family along the way. Monte was a quiet man but the right time and place he would talk a person's ear off.

Monte is survived by four brothers: Robert ( Peggy) Fisher of Sisseton, Patrick Fisher of Sisseton, Mike (Tricha) Fisher of Sisseton, Paul (Bobbi) Fisher of Tea, SD and three sisters: Lydia Derby of Sisseton, Michelle (Scott) Nelson of Sisseton and Suzanne (Richard) Tenold of Wesley Chapel, Fl. and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Monte is preceded in death by his father Osa Fisher and mother Lucille Derby, brother, Charles Fisher, and several nieces and nephews.
