Memorial Service for Mona Marie Greseth, 95, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Sunday , July 26, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Memorial Service at the church. Pastor Josh Knudsen officiating, Organist will be Ollie Yost and Pianist will be Estelle Pearson, and Special Music by Mona's grandchildren, Tom and Emma Cline, Michelle, Levi, and Taryn Greseth. Urn Bearers will be Matthew Greseth, Michael Greseth, Kayla (Greseth) Stremick, Eric Heil, Michelle (Heil) Cline, Andrew Heil, Savannah Greseth, Miranda (Greseth) Wood, Veronika Greseth, Jackson Greseth, Levi Greseth, Genya Kunnanz, and Vlad Kunnanz. Honorary Urn Bearers will be the Grace Quilters, American Legion Auxiliary, and All of Mona's Friends. Inurnment will be a Private Family Gathering at the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Mona's Memorial Service will be live streamed at www.youtube.com/@GLC-Sisseton .
Mona was born on November 27, 1930 in Sisseton, SD to Archie and Hazel (Olson) Palm. She attended grades 1-5 in Sisseton then moving to New Effington, SD in 1941 and graduated from New Effington High School in 1949. She attended summer school in Aberdeen, SD and taught in Lien Township for one year.
On August 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to MelVerne Greseth. She joined her new husband at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, CO where they lived until the following year. They then moved to Camp McCoy in Wisconsin for a short time and then they moved to Minneapolis in the winter of 1952. Mona and Mel returned to Bossko Township in spring of 1952, purchasing a farm where they lived for 50 years where their 4 children were born and raised.
Mona was active in the community; Bossko Extension Club, an organist at Bethel Lutheran Church in Norway Township until it's closing. She owned and operated the Mel's Floral Shop from 1967-1975, while still farming. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary for 59 years.
The family joined Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton in 1965 where Mona served as a Stephen Minister, organist, and active in the Grace Quilters. Mona and MelVerne moved into Sisseton in 2001. She served as Register of Deeds in Roberts County for 3 terms and one term in the State House of Representatives in Pierre, SD.
MelVerne passed away on February 5, 2014, Mona continued to live in Sisseton and moved into the JARD Apartments at the age of 90. Three years later she moved to Eventide in Fargo, ND as an independent resident, where she peacefully went home to heaven on July 18, 2026. She loved her family well and was well loved by all generations.
Mona is preceded by her husband MelVerne Greseth; parents Archie and Hazel Palm; and her brother Bill Palm.
She is survived by her four children: Todd (Sheila) Greseth of Harwood, ND, Shelley (Mike) Heil of Nashville, IN, Lee (Michelle) Greseth of Sisseton, SD, and Sue (Kelley) Kunnanz; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and one sister Patty Vadnais of Mandan, ND; nieces and nephews.
