Mildred "Millie" Elaine Hellevang was born February 5, 1931 to Adolph and Elvira Anderson. After graduating from the 8th grade at Buffalo Lake #4 country school, she helped her parents on the farm and later worked as a bookkeeper at Farmers Union Station in Sisseton.

She married Clinton Hellevang on October 19, 1954. They raised their family on the farm on the shore of Buffalo Lake. Millie touched many lives while serving others including caring for many foster children. She was known for her kind and compassionate heart.

Millie is survived by her husband, Clinton, Sisseton, SD; three sons, Kenneth (Merna) Hellevang, Fargo, ND; Dale (Marcia) Hellevang, Fargo, ND; Gary (Lisa) Hellevang, Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters, April Hayes, Tucson, AZ; and Prairie Hellevang, Sisseton, SD; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica), Brandon, Lindsay, Brian (fianceé Hannah), Kyle, Eric, and Abbey Hellevang; three brothers, Darwin (Marie) Anderson, Sisseton, SD; Harry (Arlene) Anderson, Carlisle, PA, Arnold (Donna) Anderson, Sherwood, AR; two sisters, Marjorie Vig, Langford, SD; and Beverly (Clinton) Young, Arlington, TX; along with very special friends Les and Sharyn King and Lesley Renville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Darlene Dahl, Beatrice and Genevieve Anderson; brother-in-law Harris Vig and sister-in-law Yvonne Anderson.
